Summer or All season?

With the winter season I currently have snow tires on my FR-S but when spring and summer come around what would be the better tire for the spring - fall seasons? Sorry for such a broad question but I just want to get an idea as to what I should shop for come March.

If you have winter rims, you should go summer tires. Best for both seasons, just some decision on when to switch depending on where you live.

I currently have my winter tires on the stock rims but I plan on buying new rims for the summer/all season tires.

I would think in ohio the temperature swings very widely during a single day before the summer hits. That would impact decisions.

I live in Chicago, and I just have winters for end-of-November through beginning-of-April-or-so, and summers for the rest. If we get a freak early or late snowfall, or freak cold snaps, I just don't drive (if it's the former) or drive very carefully (if it's the latter.) Don't bother with all-seasons.

I live in an unpredictable climate as well. Your best bet is to have summer tires for end of April or early may until end of October to early November. Then winter tires for the times between that.

A good rule of thumb is to go by what your insurance company says. Mine says 1 December to 1 April.

This past year, the day I got my new tires mounted on my wheels was 19*C, so I put them on. The next day was right around 0, so I couldn't drive the car.

Winter tires and summer tires.
Winter tires and all seasons is a waste.

Timing on when to put either set is key. Of course you're going to run the risk of a freak weather day, it happens to all of us but you make the best educated "guess" as to when you switch.

In NJ/NYC I run the rule..
Black Friday: Winters go on no matter what.
Easter: Summers are probably going on give or take a week.

definitely summer tires if you have winters. No need for no seasons. Winters are good enough all season tires.
