Any one hear about the factory subwoofer yet?

Has anyone heard any information about its availability, specs, or weight yet? Can anyone with the impreza version comment on its quality(I know they are a different shape but probably the same unit manufactured by kicker).

Also, most importantly, will it be easily removable for track days/ autocross?

Here is to hoping it has a pretty rugged connector.

I plan to buy it simply because of it's amazing fitment. But from what I understand it won't be out until Sept/Oct. If it's anything like the Impreza/Legacy ones it won't be anything super special, but should add a good kick.

its only 100watts, just going to add some help to the rear speakers

Nate219BRZ 07-13-2012 03:42 PM

I put a 600watt 8 for 1/3 the price of the subaru oem one...all in one unit as well

How did you get it to play nice with the stock HU?

Nate219BRZ 07-13-2012 03:48 PM

I tapped into the line on the passenger rear speaker with a converter to a rca signal. Ran a power cord and done. Messing with the eq on the unit and done. Costed me a total of 250

Sounds magical enough boom for me without waking the dead.

Does the BRZ stocker not have RCA sub outs on the back? The Pioneer/Scion radio in my FRS does...

It does not.
I used a line out converter on mine.
Tapped the wires behind the stereo.

I know I know. I really hope it comes with some sort of quick disconnect harness. I would really like to be able to pull it out on track days and autocross.

All it is, is one OEM plug and maybe 5-10 poppers. In and out in <5

Yeah I am more worried that connectors are rated for a total number of insertions before they break. In my experience oem connectors are not built to a super high quality as they are only attached once or twice over their life span. I'm just hoping its rated for more than a few. I would like to be able to pull it out more than 10 times before it breaks.
