Alternate way to open hood

hey guys! my hood release cable got loose i think and i used a plier to pull on the driver side and wrecked the cable. now its totally unable to open. any alternate ways?

Easy http://janeandjohn.org/images/blower...h-hole-saw.jpg:D

Going from underneath looks impossible looking at it. Maybe remove drivers side wheel and wheel well cover and reach over there or at least get to the wire? Good luck.

Can you at least grab the wire going to it inside? Maybe with two people you can grab it and have another person bump on the hood to release it?

Welcome to the forum, Bjack21.......

What do you mean ..... you wrecked the cable ... ??

If I were you, I would remove the kick panel and try to get a hold of the cable with a pair of vise grips and pull on the cable.

Or, go with the Bubba method:

the cable from which it comes out from the drivers side is like almost gonna break anytime from all that yanking. and yea i removed the side kick panel already. the wheel well side seems far from the latch itself. i dont even know if its possible for it to be detached from the latch.

So, can you get ahold of the cable on the inside of the car end ... ??

If so, what happened when you pulled it .... ??

If it simply pulls hard, I suggest you pull on it harder, using a vice grip as a lever. They seem to pull hard, even with its lever.

If it has become detached from the latch under the hood, it should pull on through. That would not be good.

Come back.

PS - as you are attempting to pull the cable, have someone gently push down on the front center of the hood to release pressure on the latch mechanism (like @Impureclient suggested).

Maybe PM the OP in this thread to get more details on how he accessed his hood latch; he had the same issue. I'd be interested in knowing as well:

Right well i removed the wheel liners and had access to the left bottom bay area. well the good is that its still attached to the latch. the bad is no matter how hard i pull using a vice grip its still unlatched. oh and the air box is blocking the path to the latch so yea..

The OP in the other thread did it through the passenger side - I wonder how he actually did it.
