Series.Yellow Allocation Question

Good afternoon, everyone. I'm a former BRZ owner looking to regress in style with a Series.Yellow. Looks like mine just arrived at the dealership today and I had a question for anyone familiar with the allocation process.

It's my understanding that the Series.Yellows were not anything that could be traditionally ordered for the customer like a usual BRZ and that they were assigned to dealerships. However, was it still the dealer's discretion on what additional accessories to add, if any? I've been quoted an MSRP above the regular MSRP for my Series.Yellow, and I imagine it's because options were added (still waiting to hear back from my dealer to clarify this). Out of curiosity, should a customer still have some say in this process if the car was intended to be for them? Just looking to see how "liable" I might be for the cost of items I didn't specifically ask for when it's time to see the dealer. Thanks in advance!

I don't think you're liable at all.

Bottom line is, it's a dealership. You're allowed to haggle with them.

When it comes to allocation, neither you or the dealership have any say in the accessories the car comes with. The Region/District management selects what accessories go on the car. Doesn't matter if it's a Special Edition or a Base Model Forester.

However, if you had reserved the car, the dealership can mark that car as a "Sold Order" and if that's the case, they can indeed remove or add accessories in your interest. The Sold Order window for an allocated car has a short time frame, and if you miss this window they can't change anything.

Thanks for the input!

My dealer sent me the window sticker showing the accessories, and they happen to be the ones I sort of wanted, anyway. With that in mind, and a better understanding of the allocation process, I won't make too big a deal about that when it comes to negotiating.
