Radio not working - Fm and Am

Hey

I disconnect the battery from time to time since my battery dies a lot. Anyways, my car radio does not work...

The FM/AM doesn't work. If i press scan it's looping through all channels. I can connect my phone to Bluetooth and listen to music

I removed the head unit all wires seems intact. I have the 2015 FRS so the head unit is the one with the touch screen. I also have the settings on FRS and I tried to turn off HD radio. I have the shark fin, so I don't know if the antenna is loose or what it looks like lol

Any tips?

Sounds to me like your radio's antennae is not hooked up.

I'd suggest you check the connection where it goes into the radio and at the other end at the shark fin.

I think there might be a preamp in the shark fin. If that's true and it's not getting juice it would be just like unplugging the antenna.

Yes I suppose it's the antenna as well, but I got the shark fin! I don't know how to remove it from the roof!

The shark fin that I have is just glued on.

I would suggest you heat the edges up with a hail dryer and carefully and gently pry it off.

The coil antennae should be attached to the base with a screw.

Just make sure its still attached and the screw is tightened down.

With some heat and pressure, the cover should stick back down.

Could it be a wire somewhere else, I mean how can the antenna just go bad suddenly?

Well, a simple radio antenna just doesn't "go bad". They can become disconnected from the radio or grounded out ....... but, there is nothing to go bad ...... heck, back in the day, we could use a metal coat hangar for a radio antenna.

So, the first place I would check would be where the antenna wire goes into the radio. You mentioned you had the head unit out. Are you sure you plugged the antenna wire back into the radio in the right place? Did it stay plugged in while you were reinstalling the head unit?

Is the shark fin antenna OEM or aftermarket ... ??

Sorry, I didn't mean it goes bad as the way you understood. Should of been more clear.

I have the stock shark fin with the 2015 models, I never touched the radio. I had my car taken in for transmission. So for 2 weeks, I do not know what happened. When I received the car, it was not working.

Bluetooth work.

I checked all wires, I properly connected everything back. New battery in, by the way check my other thread ;) Click here
