Car won't start after intake install

Hey guys, trying to troubleshoot a starting issue.

1. Installed new Blitz intake and removed sound piping. Plugged both sound generator holes.
2. Car started and after a few seconds shut off.
3. Realized I may have not followed directions totally and the MAF was slightly off where it should have been.
4. Repositioned MAF as it should have been. Took neg battery terminal off for a while to let ECU reset.
5. Car won't turn over. Turn key, nothing.
6. Cleaned MAF with MAF cleaner
7. Put stock intake back on.
8. Car won't turn over. Turn key, nothing.

Any ideas? The starter system looks OK. Battery looks like it has lots of power. Can't find any loose connectors. I'm at a loss.

I suggest you clean the battery posts and cable connectors......maybe you have a bad connection ......:iono:

Replaced battery just now. No dice.

No power at all, or just doesn't crank?

If no power at all, pop the fuse box open and check fuses as well as that there is power at the fuse box

PNW-BRZ 01-29-2017 04:41 PM

Check the fuses?

ajh88 01-29-2017 05:07 PM

Dash lights and headlights and everything turns on. Key turning just does nothing. What exactly do I check in the fuse box?

I still feel like it's something I tweaked in the MAF harness (loose wire in there somewhere) when I was rerouting it from the stock position. Or bad MAF and my cleaning didnt work.

Disconnect the MAF sensor (leave the actual sensor in place, just unplug it) and see if it starts.

Nope nothing :/ Argh.

If you have dash lights , check the colour of the key or lock symbol in the dash it its red or yellow car wont start as security is active, the key symbol should go green if the code is being read from key fob correctly.

try your spare key.

also try removing battery terminal again and pressing brake pedal to bleed off any residual power then reconnect.

bad maf or map sensor wont stop cranking, it should crank. it might not start but should crank

ajh88 01-29-2017 06:45 PM

I dont have that symbol at all... 2013 with regular key (no push to start or keyless entry stuff).

I'm wondering if the problem isn't completely unrelated and it just happened when you put in the intake by coincidence.
AT or MT?

Check all the fuses and you need to determine if power is actually getting to the starter.

ajh88 01-29-2017 06:56 PM

MT. What fuses would those be?

guybo 01-29-2017 07:01 PM

Check the fuse box and make sure none are blown. I don't think that's the problem but check. If I didn't read your OP and you just said that you turn the key and nothing happens but the battery is good, I'd say that the clutch safety switch is the culprit. Try to push the clutch in like you are trying to push it through the floorboards (make sure there's no carpet in the way) and turn it on then. Do you get ANY noise at all when you turn the key? A click or anything?

It'd really help and narrow things down a lot if we knew if the starter is getting any juice when you turn the key
