Selling my 86
I am thinking about selling my 2014 86 high red (see thumbnail pic) +-4350km. Would there be any interest and if so what would a good offer be?

What are you replacing it with?
Second hand values are very poor unfortunately. |
Hopefully the CHR but all depends on what I can get for the 86 because Toyota gave a real pathetic trade in value so this is my next option.

Good luck.

Jump on a few websites and see what other similar year/colour etc cars are selling for, then you'll have a good idea of what you're able to get. |

Dealers all pull out their "trade value" book because they think customers are stupid... all it is, is an annual guide they are given which indicates what the value of xx model car is if the dealers traded this themselves. They always then use that to give you their trade in offer! |

We knew they were niche cars when we bought them, it's not a Polo. |

For e.g. My old man had a 2008 M3 with just 20,000km on the clock after 5 years (he was overseas etc)... yet the dealer still offered trade which you could've had for a similar car with 80,000 km on the clock. The dealers are there to make money for themselves. No other motive. Just no to understand that when selling your own car. |
Just a small FYI, it's not the motor industry that publishes the trade book. The values depicted in the book comes from sales data that is submitted by participating dealers. "but they still apply particular formulas that aren't always based on real life. " is entirely untrue. I work for the company that supply the data, and print the book if you want to know more. There is a limited nr of sales per MM code that needs to be submitted before an average is calculated. And it's a normal average, not some scientic formula.
And the trade book is a guide, they dont have to offer you what the book says. As Sav says, if they think that it's a difficult sell they will low ball you. The Kuga is a very good example of this. |

Cool to know you work there and cam Guevara us more insight :-) |
Just an update to all who are wondering. Still have the car. Toyota gave me an offer of R200 000. Which is ridiculous to say the least. But if anyone is interested it is still for sale and I am looking to get around R260 000 which is a reasonable price for the condition of the car.
