Exhaust Systems

Hello guy!!
I own a 2017 BRZ (a manual) and was wondering if I could get few recommendations. I wanted to get the exhaust done on it, went to the shop and they recommended that I should just go with the whole exhaust change instead of a muffler because the muffler wouldn't sound the same in year or two. Does that sound right?
Second question is which one will be a good brand to get the exhaust system. Borla, Magnaflow, GReddy elite, or GReddy Evolution GT. I'm not worried about price as much because they cost about the same. I am looking for a loud classy sound, kind of that makes you turn your head and admire the care, but a loud sound that is raspy or just sounds like my car is about to break down.

I am open to suggestions and would like to hear out what y'all have to say!

Cheers!!

welcome, you may get more better responses from exhaust/engine section.

in the mean time tho youtube has tons of examples although audio quality doesnt quite translate to real life. best bet is find a meet in your area to listen in person.

Be careful. There were some minor changes to the flange that means many 13-16 exhausts don't fit the 17s without some work on the bolt holes.

My 2.5 perrin resonated catback has a nice rumble to it, and sounds pretty good when you get on the pedal.

other thing to remember is that oft doesnt support the 2017's yet so in order to unlock much performance from a full exhaust (including header) you're gonna have to buy an ecutek license and dongle and have it tuned, which is more expensive and can't be reversed if you ever need to do so.

You can certainly reverse it. What you wont be able to do is sell your ecutek license as its locked to the ecu.

If you don't care much for price. I would personally go with an ARK exhaust the DTS (if I'm correct) great quality and great sound

I've had both the Invidia N1 (sounded good was loud had some drone on the high ways though)

I recently got an ACE header that I will be installing and I traded my N1 for Invidia Q300.
The Q300 is very quiet so unless you plan to do full exhaust in the near future I would get something different.

Namless 3" resonated also sounds pretty nice.

Local FT86 Hawaii club member that has a 2017 has a Perrin 2.5 cat back resonated with no fitment issues. I believe he spoke to Chris@Perrin. Perrin is worth the $$$ because no drone. It's loud when it needs to be. ;)

I'm installing the Perrin 2.5" when I get my car in the next couple days. a contact at Perrin told me they had no issue test fitting it to a volunteer 2017 car.

It looks like the only fitment issue is for axle-backs on the 2017 as the flange is different.

as far as i understand, not without it being obvious that you have tampered with the ecu for warranty purposes and etc.

This may be true yes.

Perrin, Miltek, and Ark all have a nice deep tone. Greddy Supreme or their CS V.2 are nice. The TRD like Tcoat said is a good option as well. I highly suggest hearing them in person at local meets since youtube tends to distort the sound

If you plan do get header eventually I recommend thr Perrin, Miltek, or Greddy Supreme
