camber for less poke with RPF1s 17x9+35
 

After doing some searching I've struggled to find a solid answer as to what the recommended camber is when running Enkei RPF1s 17x9+35 and an approximate 1.2" drop. I just got the wheels installed and the fronts poke out a little too much for my liking.

I am new to adjusting camber and I'm a little overwhelmed with all the information. Do I just get some camber bolts and then tweak with it until I get the look that I like? I've read a couple posts that say around -1.5 degrees camber is great to get the flush look in the front with the RPF1s. Can anyone confirm this? Can I take my car to a shop, bring some camber bolts, and then tell them I'd like -1.5 degrees camber in the front?

If anyone has some pictures of their setup with 17x9+35 RPF1s and negative camber up front that would be awesome. Thanks for any help!

So I went ahead and purchased a Whiteline camber bolt kit. It sounds like I can just take those to a shop, have the bolts installed, and then have them dial in the camber to my liking. I'm thinking I'll try to get about -1.3 degrees camber in the front but I'll do a little more researching. I'd still appreciate pictures if anyone sees this post and wants to show me their setup. I'll update this thread for anyone who's following it.

I think -1.5 degrees camber in front will give you the "look" you are going for. Even better would be matching the camber in the rear which is probably around -2 degrees if you have stock LCAs.
Regarding the camber bolts, they are easy enough to install yourself before heading to the alignment shop. Just make sure the shop is competent and will allow you to request a certain alignment settings.

Awesome, thanks for the response man! I'm thinking I'll just have the shop install the bolts so that I don't have to drive over there with a shoddy alignment. Unless they charge a crazy amount.... but shit, maybe I'll just do it myself.

I'll have to look into adjusting the rear camber. I mainly wanted the negative camber up front just for the cosmetic effect but if it helps the handling that would be nice too. I like how the rear wheels sit and I wasn't too concerned about changing the camber. Something to think about...

I have wheels of the same spec, and have -3* front camber, they're right around flush, but a bit more "sucked" into the wheel well than I'd like.

I believe it was @strat61caster who played with camber settings and compared changes in toe from the camber change. He noted that it was a negligible change in toe, so I wouldn't worry too much about the "shoddy alignment"

I did exactly what you're thinking OP, installed camber bolts myself, drove it to the shop, saved $50+ on the labor to install them, you'll have zero problem. I never measured them like that, but I did do camber plates and max to min camber the toe change is still drivable, maybe undesirable, but at least you can drive it to the shop.

If you can eyball an equal adjustment left/right you may not notice you did anything at all for street driving.

imo ask them to max out the negative camber, should be -1.1 to maybe at most -1.7, definitely helps handling. They only got about -1.3 out of my whiteline bolts.

Ok, I'll just install them myself. I ordered some whiteline bolts so I'll just ask them to max out the negative camber.

What size tyres are you running. Your poke will depend on what width tyre you have, be it 235, 245 or 255.

245/40-17

Interested to see how you go mate.

I've got 235/40/17's on my RPF1's now with Camber Bolts and a 1" drop. Slight poke, but not much. I'm planning on putting on Coilovers and changing to 245 width Hankook RS3's in the next month and dialling out the poke will be a priority.

I'll post some pics after I get the bolts installed and an alignment. I'm hoping it will be just what I'm looking for.
