Help ~ Falken Azenis Vs. Advan Neova Vs. Potenza RE-71R
Hey guys (again) lol
Originally I was set on the Bridgestone S-04 Pole Position tires for my car. However since I purchased a 3rd car I now know that I won't drive my 86 much. So I think I might as well get the most out of my tires since I don't put much mileage on the car and don't really ever drive it in the rain. So just wondering, out of thee 3 tires which would be the best for street driving in terms or noise, comfort and tread rating? I don't track/autocross. However I might go once this summer. Falken Azenis RT615K Yokohama Advan Neova AD08R Bridgetsone Potenza RE-71R I've actually had Falken Azenis before on my subaru wrx and loved them. However just wondering if maybe those other 2 options are better for what I'm looking for. From what I know, the Advans are the most sticky out of the 3, however I believe they have the worst tread rating and maybe not as comfortable for street use? The RE71R are the loudest? Azenis are the least sticky but more city/highway friendly? Would love to hear from actually owners of these tires! Thanks! |
IMO, none of them are good options for pure street driving, they need some heat to work, will be noisy and stiff. The pilot super sports are probably your best bet for a good sticky pure street tire.
Forget the Azenis, they're old tech and not as good as the other options in any aspect. RE71R will be way faster for autox or a few laps of track use, but the AD08R's will last WAY longer. They'll both be noisy and and stiff (not as comfortable). I've had Dunlop ZII's, Hankook RS3 v2's, and now AD08R's on my car. The ZII's and AD08R's had the best feel, the RS3's definitely had a bit more grip than the ZII's and are about the same as the AD08R's. The AD08R's and ZII's last WAY longer than the RS3's, and RE71R's way WAY faster than RS3's do. They claim to be a 200tw, but in reality they're more like 80-100. |
Never been a big fan of the Azenis, honestly. Out of the 3 you have listed, I would opt for the AD08s.
RS3s, ZIIs, and even the MPSS are all being replaced this year, so the list and available options will soon change. |
I just installed RE71R and I only have about 100 miles on them, but I am liking them so far!
They are loud but I don't really mind. |
RE71s are stickiest out of the three I think.
AD08s are pretty pricey. Azenis could use an update. Hankook has the RS-4 coming out in a few months, tire rack says 3/17 for availability. Funny thing about treadware on the rs-3; they were marked 140 when the first version came out, and then changed to 200, which suddenly made them legal in street class time attack among other things. But it is kind of a waste to have any of those tires and then just drive around town with them. I'm considering a 3rd set of wheels for good sticky tires for auto-x and such and then a cheaper and more durable tire for daily summer use. |
Alright!
Seems like I'm just better off with my prior choice and going with the Bridgestone S-04 haha :) (I know PSS are better...but I like Bridgestone more since it's Japanese >__<) |
AD08 and the Azenis are both made in Japan as well.
But I'm not sure place of manufacture really matters. Unless you are only putting made in Japan parts on your car or something :) Quote:
