Removing Power Windows
I'm working on gutting the doors on my race car and I'm trying to get the power windows removed as cleanly as possible, but I have not had any luck figuring out how to remove the clips that mount the glass to the rest of the motorized window assembly.
In the picture below there is a washer looking thing with 4 holes in it that seems to be holding things together. Do you need some sort of special tool to remove it? http://i.imgur.com/WmE0faB.jpg There are 2 more that are more difficult to get to that will also need to be removed: http://i.imgur.com/JgE5ORi.jpg I know a few people on this forum have probably done this as part of their race car builds as I know there is a fair amount of weight savings to be gained by gutting the doors, so hopefully someone here can help. Thanks! |
Did you ever get any assistance, or figure this out yourself? i'm in the same boat now. I can see those connections, but unlike your photos, I can't even get them above the door skin so that I have access. Let me know. Haven't had luck looking for instructions.

You don't have to remove those. Remove all of the bolts and nuts through the door. You will find access to them through holes as you move the window around. The entire assembly will slide out the top.

If I remember correctly, as you slide the window rearward, there is a relief in the metal towards the rear of the door to slide those bulkier brackets up and out.
