Tire Wear?

I have michelin AS3s fitted on my BRZ (stock rims) These were fitted by the previous owner so I'm not sure how long they have been on, but I was looking at them today and I noticed the inside was wearing WAY faster than the outside.

AFAIK he didn't mess with the suspension, car is not "stanced" or anything.

Just curious what kind of wear patterns people are seeing, will probably have the alignment checked when new tires are fitted, but I was about to leave for a road trip to the tail of the dragon + some bussiness and it looks like lots of rain so I am slightly concerned.

My wear was pretty even last I checked, and I have "somewhat aggressive" camber (ignoring the stance bullshit.) -2.5 front, and -2.0 rear. If you're experiencing a lot of inside wear, it's possible your alignment is off (if camber doesn't seem particularly off from a visual standpoint, it might be the toe, which you can't really see offhand.) Honestly, until you get the alignment checked, it probably isn't even worth debating other possibilities. Get that checked, then report back if that isn't the issue.

I mean these look pretty bad to me...

These are the fronts but IDK if these were on the rear and rotated, its also possible he had some stupid camber angles on it the the dealer reset to stock?

Being a second-hand car, you never know. It may very well have been stanced to the moon. I'd get an alignment, maybe some new tires, and just not worry about it unless the issue persists. Does the car track straight, and not wander around too much on the highway?

Like Stang stated, it's 2nd handed, so never know first owner might had it hard camber w those wheels and change it back to stock before selling it.

I would recommend getting it align check

It drives fine on the highway, its been very slippery lately due to temps in the teens and a insane amount of salt thrown all over the roads.

edit: made appointment at dealer to get oil changed and alignment checked. Was going to change oil when I got back but might as well do it now...

welp the local subbie dealer seems useless.

They say its fine!

I ask if I can get a print out of the actual alignment values.

"oh we didn't put it on the machine. Mechanic test drove it seems straight"

...

Thanks for nothing.

Typical shitty dealership service! Glad to see nothing has changed in that regard.

Yeah, get a print out from another alignment place. Many put out ads for free checks in mailers and stuff around here at least so check the junk mail. Toe isnt noticable to the eye really and can still drive straight even "in spec" but can cause considerable tire wear

I'd be surprised if it was #stancenation'ed with stock wheels. Stance kids are superficial kids, so typically the wheels are first to go.

It could be something as simple as the toe is a little out of alignment. The OEM alignment specifications are not numbers, they're ranges. Camber must be between this number and this number, but the two sides can only be so far apart from each other, that kind of thing. It can be off enough to cause uneven wear and still be within OEM spec.

But only for reps. Cuz gotta drop all the cash on alignment parts and a knock off Rocket Bunny kit.
