Mosport International Raceway - Driving School

Ontario Time Attack is hosting its annual driving school of the year at Mosport International Raceway.

Yes, the big, ex-formula 1 track.

This is Canada's fastest and arguably the most complex track. Don't let the overhead lay out fool you, the elevation changes and high speed turns you experience in real life make the rollercoasters at wonderland seem like park benches.

July 28th

Full day of instruction for $375.00

All you need is a car with working breaks and passenger seat, and a SNELL2005 or better helmet.
If you have a convertible car, you must have a roll bar installed.

You'd have a hard time finding lapping days on the weekend for this price, let alone with instructors.

All of our instructors by the way have undergone their own instructor training and come from varied backgrounds in autoracing.

Complete this form and send it to me. (on the back just check off the July 28th day, ignore the class-c stuff at the top of the 2nd page)

Yes, i most certainly know what he is driving

a 2006 Mustang (yellow!)

stock except for pullies and 17" RPF1's on 255 RS3's

his time last year was 1:40:8 , which is blazingly fast for a stock mustang on street tires.

I've got some questions...

What is the schedule for the day, i.e. How much class time and how much track time?

What is the instructor/student ratio?

How much of our wheel time would be with an instructor?

Thanks!

7thgear 07-12-2012 02:59 PM

not sure about schedule yet (i'm not the one writing it)

but usually we start at 8, hit the track at 9.

track/class/track/class etc in equal increments

there will be a break for lunch (1 hour) when instructors typically will go out. ( their only form of payment, haha)

don't worry about the ratio as you'll have the same instructor with you during each of your track sessions.

you will also be emailed a student questionaire prior to the event to help align you with the proper instructor (based on experience, car type, etc)

*if our final numbers end up low we might introduce a lapping portion, then it will be class/lapping/track, so if you're a student the lapping portion will be free for you to do whatever, and you could go out with any of the lappers as a passenger.

but right now we're trying to make it a school only deal.

Aw man... I have an exam 2 days after this... Study or hit the track lol?

Question: Can we rent helmets from somewhere? & can new manual drivers partake? I've only been driving manual for 2 or 3 months and can't do any advance techniques such as heel tow.

we don't have loaner helmets. If you're strapped for cash you can buy one of those HJC motorcycle helmets, but how much is your head worth? (just make sure it is SNELL2005)

how long have you been driving for? Not to discourage you but this track is not for complete novices. This is not a track where you want to be learning to drive a manual.

I've been driving auto for 4 years - new to manual though only 3 or 4 months.

I've been told to go to SMP instead of Mosports - but I figured if I had an instructor it shouldn't be so bad?

7thgear 07-13-2012 06:45 PM

bad is the wrong word, as long as you have confidence in your ability

our instructors will ensure that you handle the car within your limit and let you know if you're going above it.

no takers?

still spots available.

colHolm 07-25-2012 04:26 PM

Family obligations tomorrow... any courses like this in August or September?
