2016 Head unit is junk...
I continue to have issues with connectivity and playing media or using the phone in my car.
Day before yesterday, I got in the car and started up Pandora. The app was blank on my car's screen but my phone said it was connected and playing a song. After a few minutes, the car started playing two songs at once, one on top of the other. I even bought a new phone, Galaxy S6, to see if that would help. Nope. I still can't make phone calls half the time or get a reliable connection. |
I swapped mine out for a Kenwood unit and have loved it.

Subaru has never been known to make a technologically advanced vehicle when it comes to its interior options. I maintain that if backup camera's had not became a required safety feature you would of likely not seen them in Subaru's until 2017.

It powers off when you turn the car off.

But I guess it could still be on, who knows. I know when turning mine on or off, there's about ten or twelve seconds of lag. I've learned to hit the button and just wait; used to I'd hit the button, think I didn't press the button good enough, then press it again. Then it'd finally turn off then turn right back on because I hit it twice. |
I dont have any issues with mine (FRS-16), unless I have been connecting to a bunch of different bluetooth devices like my two other trucks. Typically I just restart my phone, and it clears up.
Maybe there is a firmware update for the HU that can be flashed at the dealer? |
