To be competitive at nationals:

1) Driver that is Nationally competitive
2) A Coilover suspension setup with a proper alignment
3) 17x9 inch wheels with a competitive tire (new tires on the horizon but RE71R is a safe bet)
4) Basic power bolt-ons such as header, high flow catted over/frontpipe, exhaust and a tune to make it all work well

Carried over from CS would be a front bar and maybe the exhaust.

imo:

1. Wheels and tires, standard recipe is 17x9 w/ 245-40 good tires (re71r, bfg-rs)
2. Full adjustable alignment (camber plates, rear LCAs) over -3 degrees camber front, ~-2 rear. Toe to preference.
3. Coilovers, ~400# springs is the norm, quality valving, sway bars to taste
4. Header and Tune
5. LSD
6. Bushings
7. Weight reduction

Maybe flip header and LSD, idk I haven't done either yet.

An aftermarket LSD is not needed to win or trophy at all.

Locally or nationally? I'm not going to say your wrong, all I know is the top guys local to me are running 'em and they land top 10 at Nats.

:iono:

But I did put it further down my list because I think that suspension, alignment, and tire choice are all more important (along with the unspoken driving talent).

Edit: And from what I know about Minis, the LSD was critical to the STX win last year.

How competitive? Good coilovers and alignment, header and tune, 9" wheels and the tire of the year. That should get you pretty far.

You may be looking at full exhaust, an intake, and attention to weight to win (which means things like AP Sprint) so choose wheels wisely.

Wilcox has to have an LSD is much different than a FRS needing one.

Marcus last year didn't have a Aftermarket LSD, Pallotta didn't have one. Those are the last 2 winning FRS nationally.

There are also top 10 with just what he said (happens to match my list...)

Yeah should have phrased that differently on Wilcox. Interesting that '14 & '15 were won on the OE Torsen, I'll shut my mouth on that one then and consider easing my budget for this year.

Edit: Still sticking to the top 4 items on my list, that's probably minimal prep work for heading into a big event with a shot at the win, but it's not a bolt on and go setup, lots of knobs to turn in the ST setup.

I like the diff but it's not necessary.

As always, nationally competitive driver is step #1.

Personally I'd put it after an AP BBK kit.

I'm just starting my build, but this is current priority for 2017 season.

MCS Shocks/Springs/Plates
Header/OP/FP/Exhaust/Tune
Rear LCAs
17x9 ET35 Wheels
Intake
LTW battery
Minor Bushings
Rain wheels/Tires

For next years (or if I get magical money)
BBK
Diff
More Bushings

He meant the driver mod...

And with regards to that, people rave about EVO school. And if you can get a nationally competitive co-driver in for even just a few runs odds are you'll pick something up.

Data analysis with said competitive driver will also help. Hell data analysis with someone on your skill level is also beneficial if you can build off each other.

Edit: And the BBK is really there for weight reduction right? Even street pads on stock brakes can provide ample stopping power, although I've started to fade mine at bigger courses, hybrid pads are on the docket for me this year, likely AX6s.

You did ninja edit, but I was going to say http://www.evoschool.com/

Also, Solostorm works wonders. Getting someone else quicker in the car and comparing data will show you what you can't see.

This list because it's the only one that starts off with driver mod.:thanks:
