SBD400X turbocharger

So i have been looking into possibly buying this kit.. probably the one that costs $3800, because it includes the drift bar, the tune for OFT, and some other stuff that i will probably need. The last post i saw about this kit looked like it was at least a year old.. Does anyone have any experience with this kit? It looks good to me but i figured i would see what this forum has to say about it. Im sure there are better options but they all seem a lot more expensive.

They have a facebook group, you can join and talk to all the guys owning it.

Basically it's a knock off Greddy kit, and for the price it's pretty hard to beat. I also haven't seen anyone have problems with SBD turbo kits either. It has a Mitsubishi 20G turbo. I personally no longer really see anything wrong with it, it's a damn good deal for what you get. But seeing you live in CA, I don't know how you'd pass emissions over there.

I have my ways. Not too worried about that. Thanks for the input! It seems pretty good to me.. i am just trying to research as much as possible before i start trying to buy it.

JDL's kit has come down in price to match this kit, and you can get an actual gtx series along with for the same price point. Perhaps I'm biased because that's what I run, but JDL>SBD every day of the week.

The treadstone come with an EFR turbo and don't need moding the crash bar for a little more but totally justified.

The SBD400X kit is $2999.

We do offer a "complete" kit, which includes our 2.5" Catless Overpipe/Front Pipe, Drift Armor Bar, Pre-welded oil pan, etc for $3699.....but those are optional.

We have lots of customers who weld their factory oil pan, run their factory exhaust parts and modify or remove their factory bumper beam to save money.

But the base kit is $2999 and will make 275whp roughly through the factory exhaust parts.

Add our 2.5" OP/FP and the kit will make right at 300whp @ 10 psi on 91/93 octane.

All on a 100% factory fuel system and no need to change the factory fans.

These kits are also in-stock and we can ship most orders same day.

Still was my first choice for FI but at the end of the day i needed something that i could pass CARB with without being shady. If i ever buy a track only 86 i'm 100% throwing this kit on it.

What's the difference between your SBD400X FT86 Turbo Kit (Complete Bundle Package) and Openflashs' OFT 350 turbo system?

It's increased now to 3600 starting off. They said something about after new years they're making changes to their kit. Not sure if that's what it is or not.

If anyone can wait till the 1st of the year'ish we are working hard to really bring the turbo kits up to the production level of our headers. They will incorporate fully custom cast intercoolers, Mandrel bent manifolds and Intercooler piping routing that will please everyone I think. These steps will also cut down on lead time drastically. There will be a few less options but every kit should be able to ship the same week it's ordered.

I have owned the SBD turbo kit for exactly 1 year next week and have 13k miles on it.
So happy with the results. With an invidia over pipe and catted down pipe into stock exhaust I made 300whp on Ptunings dyno. The car pulls a little harder then a stock SRT8 392 Challenger and a 5.0 Mustang.

Normal low rpm driving there is NO powerloss or lag - mid rpm dip is completely gone. My favorite thing is going down the highway at 3k rpms and giving it 1/4 gas and just taking off.

One of the tricks SBD did is on the full length header the pipe diameter is smaller. This allows more low end power 2-3k and allows quicker spool up. My datalogs show 7 psi of boost at just 4k rpms. 3500 to 4000rpm is the best part of the car now.

My gas mileage went from 29.4 avg to 28.5. Really nice blow off valve.

Cons: - the turbo jacket is a little cheap. They don't supply a tee and vacuum lines for the BOV - The exhaust wrap with the kit is horrible, you will need to buy better wrap.
