Extra 3 years warranty/cap price servicing

I enquired about an 86 at a Toyota dealership and was advised that if I purchase from that dealership I would get an extra 3 years warranty on drivetrain, gearbox and engine and also capped price servicing. Cap price servicing was going to be 30-50 dollars more expensive over the standard 170. Has anyone else heard of this offer or know if this is a good deal?

Thanks

Sounds reasonable, BUT I wouldn't be surprised if it is a non-Toyota (ie aftermarket) warranty. Alot of dealers offer these extended "warranty" plans.

I have the extra 3 years from my dealer and my cap price is 190. I am okay with this.

I got 6 years warranty and no change to service pricing for nothing. Hell I didnt even ask for it.

The intervals will change to 6 months/10,000kms as a term of that warranty. I'm not entirely sure as to what happens given you will end up servicing more often. This capped price service is an oil and filter change, not the owners handbook service. You will still have the major service like the 95,000km spark plug service. According to those terms that service would fall 5,000kms after the previous "fixed price" service. Read the fine print. If its free, question it.

The Toyota genuine warranty is a great product. It doesn't affect your intervals and is transferable between owners with no limit to the number of claims, nor the amount of each claim. The warranty you speak of has a ceiling of $1,000 per claim so if you have a $2,000 repair you are liable for $1,000 of it.

I will be purchasing the Toyota genuine extended warranty for my car. I'm certainly not saying the Harrier National warranties are worthless. I just believe that if something is free, it isn't as valuable as the one you pay for.

The proper factory backed warranty is called Toyota Care and can be purchased 1,2,3 years depending, if you can get it at a good price why not. Its around the $1500 mark 3 years. The others are just crap and would bother with only TOYOTA CARE WARRANTY.
unsure about cap though

Extended warranties are just a way for the dealership to extract more money from you..... Read the fine print, servicing usually has to be done at the same dealer you got your warranty from.

Think your new car is going to blow up?

I had a Subaru that blew 2 engines from regular driving. Statutory warranty is meant to protect you however extended warranty helps too.

must this be purchased before delivery? or can you top it up before it expires?

before the normal warranty expires. I think it costs more if you do that though from memory.

The TMCA Toyota Care product page: http://www.toyota.com.au/finance/ext...ExtendWarranty
Note that it talks about it only being available at the time of purchase. This may be a new policy because like others I had previously thought it was available for purchase until your original warranty ran out.
