does rwd LSD feel the same as fwd lsd?
 

i have a lsd on my 07 civic si, but from the way people talk about it on here it seems like it will feel different on a rwd car. i only notice the lsd if i'm cornering very hard and accelerating. like as in taking a corner faster than i really should. in normal driving will i notice the lsd on the frs?

Short answer is no.

Take your time and get a feel for RWD! Go check out a local auto-x event and learn the limits in a safe environment is my $0.02 of advice!

I guess the real question is whether or not you are familiar with the difference in feel from a FWD to RWD car. Now, personally I've never driven a FWD with an LSD. But my last 4 cars were all FWD so going back to RWD is different. The times I notice the LSD the most are when I accelerate out of sharp turns (i.e. turning from a stop light) and I chirp the rear tires and feel it begin to oversteer because of it. Granted I am a little throttle-happy in those situations. Like I said I've never driven a FWD w/ LSD, but wouldn't that make the car much more prone to understeer? If so then I'm guessing the difference will be quite dramatic for you.

the helical type LSD in the 06+ si's and 02+ DC5-R, etc, only initiate while cornering and on the throttle. If you've driven a k20 swapped civic with a manual rack without LSD and with LSD, you can definitely feel the difference.

After driving miatas with an OEM Torsen LSD, OEM Viscous, and a KAAZ 1.5 way, the FWD and RWD LSD feel is totally different.

The FWD feels like the front outside wheel is spinning more to hug you into a corner while the inside slows down, it helps with understeer while throttling into a corner, whereas the RWD drive cars feels like the car is almost 'drifting' where the front wheels don't have to do as much work and the back seems to want to come out but stays rather well balanced.

ahhh yes i guess the si one being helical, and the frs one being torsen will make a big difference.

Torsens are helical lsds. The difference is just going to come from knowing the major differences between characteristics of transitioning from a fwd to a rwd car.

yes exactly, but on most (not all) FWD cars the LSDs usually don't kick in until you're turning.
