Saw a new FR-S

I seriously hate the newer front end. My 2013 looks mean and is beautiful to look at and admire (still get out of it and look at it in love lol). The new one looks really wimpy. Like the car is smiling at you. If someone offered me a new one for my 2013 as an even trade I wouldn't do it. It lost its mean look and its really a shame.

Yeah, looks like a catfish.

I personally never saw the FRS bumper as "mean". What I do see in it is a design that flowed into the rest of the car with appropriate curves and angles.
The new bumper looks exactly like what it is and that is something designed to match the rest of the Toyota line up. The angles and flow do not match the rest of the car and it appears grafted onto the front instead of being an intrinsic part of the design. If the rest of the body was changed to match the flow of the bumper then it would look far better than it does now.
All in all looks are subjective anyway so for every person that doesn't like it there could be 10 that do.

No you didn't.

I saw a new 86 recently and thought the opposite. I think it looks better in person than the release photos, but I still prefer the original design. I'm a little biased though.

So sorry for calling it an FR-S. Didn't mean to offend anyone. I saw an 86.

The new bumper doesn't look as bad as it does in pictures.

However, I would never trade in my car for a 2017.

I didn't even catch the reference and will probably call 86s FRSs until my dying breath. Although technically speaking an 86 is indeed still an FRS since F-R-S stands for Front engine, Rear drive, Sport and they are still that configuration.

I always referred to them as 86's or GT-86's because Scion was never a legitimate brand to me, especially when it comes to our cars.

You saw an FRZ86, nice!

And there is no Santa Claus either I bet?

If somebody was holding a gun to my head, I would do the trade and then get a new bumper cover. In fact I actually thought about doing it even without the gun to the head thing.
The dealer by me has a 20 year/200K warranty on all the cars they sell new/used/certified which I missed out on by several months buying mine before they implemented that.
If they had a 2016 with super low miles like my 15' at 8k, I might do it to gain that warranty and if the 17' was a decent enough price just do that bumper swap. Maybe even
make that part of the deal. If enough people show their disgust in the change, maybe they will think about changing something just to change it for the new model year.
If it isn't broke, don't fix it.
