Stock tire snow limit, 5cm...

  • ~2cm of snow you can have great fun with stock tires
  • 5cm+ of snow, you get full on abs, traction warning lights and unbearable control going at 13km/h

Yeah... I didn't want to risk it... I switched out last week for my winter tires... down to the last week. Got 10 inches over 24 hours. Love it. Was actually pretty fun and easy getting out of my sub this morning.

If OP crashes I am sending these pics to his insurance company!
Stock summer tires in the cold and snow?

Can we automatically block any thread that has the words, Stock Tires and Snow in them? Talk about beating a dead horse.

Well, to be fair, some people get caught off guard. In my case I just picked up snow tires over the weekend and still have to get them mounted, but snow started last night into rain today. Hopefully I'll have mine mounted this week before the snow starts sticking to the streets. Today was just driving through rain and a bit of slush. It's the parking lot at work that was a mess and made the car start getting a little nanny-ish. Leaving later today will be interesting.

Also, in my case I believe I have the GT All-Seasons, not the pseudo-summer tires. As cold as it's been lately the car would've gone nuts trying to roll on summer tires.

That's Torontonians for ya.

If a guy living in Toronto gets taken by surprise by snow in December then there is an even bigger question about their rational abilities.

Zhangy has a long history of questionable forum posts. At least if he crashes, it won't affect my insurance rates as he's in Canada.

He may skid right across the lake into you! If it was frozen.

Thanks to Global Warming, I'm safe.

Although, that would be a pretty impressive skid, across Lake Ontario, up the Niagra river, and down Lake Erie.

Well they are "Prius" tires.

headlikeahole 12-12-2016 02:00 PM

0 cm of snow is the limit of the stock Primacy's capabilities.
