Yakima Roof Rack for BRZ/FRS/86: Have you done it?

Hey all,

Just wondering if anyone on here has followed this guide for using the Yakima Q Towers with our car:

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15028

If you have done this setup, or anything similar, how confident are you with the setup? Being that the Q Towers / Q91s aren't spec for this car- they only just fit it as far as I know.

How long have you had it on your car for? Is it sturdy at highway speeds? Would you recommend?

I have the rest of my kit coming within the next few days. Looking to use this for skiing this winter!

Yakima removed the "fit" for this rack, they say due to damages

I tried with zero success to get Yakima to suggest an alternative. As far as i can tell, they no longer sell the clip size stated to fit in OP - (Q91-A)

But.. i have seen numerous members here on the forum using them to carry all sorts of things with absolutely no issue.

I'm almost to the point of being willing to take the risk. I'm a sales rep and need the additional capacity and I just picked up a rack line that has a bunch of different things for the roof that I want to be able to display properly.

Had Q91 clips, got the qtower setup locally on craigslist w/ fairing (50" I think) and 48" cross bars. I've driven all over Houston, as well as a road trip to Austin, TX with roof rack fully intact. When it was still on, I took it up to 85mph with no issues. I ran this rack for about 5 months until I received an offer to sell that I could not refuse. The only damage I can say to watch out for is under the fairing (the rubber pieces that go between the roof and fairing were worn out due to my setup being used.) It left faint scratches on my roof. As far as fitment, it takes some adjustments to get it to sit right and look even. But it's possible with some patience.

Do you have any close up shots of the attachment points?

Unfortunately I didn't snap any pics of that.
