There is nothing in the TNGA engine that prevents it from attaching to a manual transmission.

Next Gen GT 86 confirmed to be cancelled.

A good source told me which I can't link since it was at a coffee shop and I can't say his name since he will get fired.
Basically though,

A friend of mine knows someone at Toyota North America who knows someone at Toyota Japan who knows someone who slept with the CEO's wife of Toyota japan and he says she told him everything about our 2nd gen during that sexual encounter.

There was a lot of moaning and a lot of adult themed conversations, however if all my sources are correct....this is what she said.

"YES...HARDER...YES....NO GT86...CANCELLED...YES....CONFIRMED"

The bad thing about it being a Toyota now is that it has to sell well in NA or die. I suspect the only reason we have the car at all is that Big Toyota didn't care about what Scion was doing. If Scion had not existed, I don't think the 86 would have made it out of the accounting department.

Mods, could you create a tacked thread for the next round of endless speculation?

If Scion didn't exist it would just have been a Toyota all along. It was only badged as a Scion in North America but is a worldwide platform as a Toyota.
Scion was Toyota it wasn't a separate company and had nothing to do with the car being developed.

I know Scion is Toyota, and I think Scion had everything to do with it being developed. I don't think it would have gotten past the bean-counters if it had started as a Toyota project.

But, it did start as a Toyota. All over the world, except North America.

DUDE It WAS a Toyota/Subaru project. Scion was just a marketing arm in the USA only and the 86 was sold all around the world. Every Scion made was a Toyota elsewhere in the world. There was never a Scion built car ever. How can you possibly even consider that Scion was behind the development of it?

Go read this and see if you can find any references at all to Scion:

I wouldn't go that far but a news release directly from Toyota would go a long way. The whole thing is that they very rarely release anything to far in advance.

why? 12-08-2016 09:23 PM

this is too funny. They just released the reskin. That means nothing is going to happen until what? 2021 is four years...

AFAIK there has never been a SMMC (Scion Motor Manufacturing Co). The "brand" in this case is not the actual manufacturer. Scion never did any manufacturing. Every vehicle they sold was either Toyota, Daihatsu or in this case Subaru made (with Toyota's design/engineering contribution).

My 2011 xB would have been a Toyota Rumion in Japan or a Toyota Rukus in Australia. The original Xb was a Daihatsu bB.
