Canards?

I saw the pictures in this thread and noticed the canards on the rear sides of the car. does anyone know if those are aftermarket? Who sells them? Do they offer any benefit besides styling?

It's a Toyota OEM Accessory:

Couple of the vendors here on the forum should be able to help you out to order them. Check the 'exterior parts' section of the commercial classifieds.

...and they are Vortex Generators (VG), not canards. ;)

That of course, assumes they are functional, which they may be marginally, but mostly cosmetic.

Canards are much bigger and are technically small wings, like on the front of an aircraft as seen here:

Ah, i see.

I'm guessing they are much more for looks then actually benefiting anything

They are functional, they are for weight reduction. Less money in your wallet and they look so bad that you will probably have less passengers, thus less weight. The part number is R!ice x 10

But I do encourage you do do whatever you want to your car, and dont worry about what others (like me) think.

So, in that case, they may be canards since they provide lift as they lift the money from your wallet.
