Alarm confusion
Okay I have the limited. when I get out of my car I put my thumb on the door handle for a few seconds and hear a chirp and the doors lock at that time. Looking inside I see the key symbol flashing.
Is the alarm set at this time? If I use the keyfob and hold down the lock symbol for a few seconds I hear the horn beep and lights flash once. What's the difference? |
I'm pretty sure the key symbol just means the car recognizes your key fob is within range. I don't think it pertains to the alarm system. I could be wrong, I won't have my car until this Friday.

There is another symbol that indicates when the alarm is set. I think it's a red lock, but I know it is on page 81 of the owners manual.

Does the premium have any sort of alarm system? You can hit the panic button and make it go crazy and you can click the lock button a few times to make the horn chirp, but I've tried pulling the doors open and all sorts of stuff and I haven't been able to make an alarm go off on its own.

I didn't know Limited has Alarm?

Here's how to activate it
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11049 Mine was deactivated from the dealer and had trouble activating it, so decided to write a DIY. |
I followed the guide and heard the horn beep and alrm on on the display but it's the same symbol that is activated when you lock the door from outside by touching the handle with your thumb
Ps when I said key symbol I meant the red lock symbOl, I was in the office and going by memory. :) |

Yeah, I just set it up on mine today. It was off by default. Just hold down the unlock button as you open your car door for 10 seconds and it'll honk once and it's set afterwards thereafter.
