USB Hub?

Just wondering if anyone tried to use a usb hub in our cars to connect two or more devices through our main usb port? Did it work/will it work?

What's the purpose of this? Are you trying to connect different devices for media purposes or for charging? If it's for charging I would just use a Cigarette lighter adapter with multiple USB ports like this one.

I would check the cigarette lighter fuse first though, If i'm not mistaken it's a 7.5 amp fuse but I could be wrong.

Let's say to have a usb stick plugged in to play music and have the iphone connected to charge and switch to the phone to use it a gps device through usb so it can play the voice through the speakers....this way i don't have to fumble between switching usb devices on one port..

that brings up the question if our car will even detect multiple usb devices

@FX86 I'd recommend just getting a dedicated charger instead of using the .5 Ah USB port these cars have, that's barely enough for most phones. I carry a Ravpower battery bank that can charge my USB C device rapidly ~3Ah, and it holds 21Ah. Much better solution than having a spaghetti of wires with a USB hub.

Also, what happened to using bluetooth?

Back to the original question...

It depends on the head unit... the port itself is totally passive. For the Pioneer touch screen head units in the 2013-2015 FRS the manual specifically states that USB hubs are NOT supported.

You will need to read the manual for the specific head unit in your car.:iono:

Possibly something like this with switches?
