Price for replacement key

I lost my key to my 2014 Brz limited. Was trying to find the price for replacement at the dealership before I go in so I know what to expect. Anyone have any experience in this?

Thanks

I have heard around 250-300 but it all depends on your dealer

I have heard that if you lose both keys, they will need to change out your cluster. if you still have one key then you should only need to buy another key and program it.

Many people have tried to find a way around going to the dealer and many have failed. John was right on the price.

What a racket.

Yep - even if you can find a key elsewhere, you'll need to visit them to get it configured.

If you lose both keys + the little metal tag with a number on it (I believe), then yea theres no way they can replicate your missing keys.

I work for a GM dealer. In that case we would need the car towed to our shop and it's like $700 for 2 new keys + a tow bill haha. Keys can be cut with the vin but the car must be present for programming them

losing your key fob is like losing your d!ck...you don't want to lose it otherwise you are going to have a bad time

With just the VIN? Not sure what the number on our keys is exactly, but its definitely too short to be a VIN.

Either way, still cheaper than having to do all that PLUS replace the cluster lol.

$350

Yeah we can look up the key code that way and cut a new key but it wont start the car till its programed and to do that we have to phone GM's tech line

Slightly off topic, I just paid $250 for two honda ridgeline keys. Service guy says: "$150 for the first key, $250 for two" Me: what, not $200 for two?

I agrre, it is a racket.

Luckily, I haven't lost my FRS keys.... yet. (Crosses fingers)

Lucky you. My wife already lost my back-up key fob.
