2017 G meter

So I'm scrolling through the menus while I'm driving and noticed I can't get to the g-meter screen which besides g-force shows real time brake, throttle, and streering input. It looks like I can only access the g-screen when I'm fully stopped.. what the hell's the point of having it if it can't be seen in real time while I'm driving.... is it because they don't want people staring at the screen while driving? page 219 of the manual confirms it can't be accessed while driving. what a fail subaru:thumbdown:

Bristecom 11-23-2016 12:24 AM

Yeah, I had read that too which is disappointing. So basically it can only be selected when stopped but it can still be seen while driving? Or is it just a log that records previous g-force?

Zaku 11-23-2016 12:32 AM

it does turn off after a little while I notice. It doesn't stay on, it did, however, stay on longer when I had track mode on and I was on the track. Sadly I didn't really pay attention to it since I was the focus on driving instructions from the instructor. Sorry, It's not much help.

They save money by just putting a dot in the middle of the screen. Only works when stationary :D

Sort of answered your own question. They failed by keeping people from being distracted? Set it while stopped and glance at it while moving simple as that.

Can't glance at it while moving it disappears immediately upon moving and the hp/torque screen appears.

Zaku I tried it with sport mode on too thinking it was track only...same result

AHHHH I see. I thought you just meant you couldn't set it while moving (which makes sense). Weird.

If you wish to watch it while driving, you just need to place a cup of water in the coffee holder. I'm not kidding.

gtengr 11-23-2016 11:23 AM

I also find it odd that they block the g-meter while in motion, but allow you to see where you are on the RPM-based power curve. Hopefully there will be a way to alter this via programming.

What if women had a G-Spot meter so it will let you know how close you are to hitting her G-Spot?

It would only work while you weren't moving. As soon as you started moving it would disappear.

They do. Both visual and audible notifications.

The nose flashes red and it buzzes if you touch the side though.

BRZ Premium $26,315. BRZ Limited $28,465.

So, to get the G meter costs only $2150.

Such a deal for that apparently wonderful device !

tomm.brz 01-06-2017 08:56 AM

Hi guys,
I 'm from Italy and I'm a owner of a 2017 BRZ.

I discovered that the Toyota 2017 GT86 has a perfectly working G-meter..

while the Subaru only has kind of a screenshot of the "best" G surveys that even disappear when driving and reappear when stopping, the Toyota (while still having the same screen of the BRZ) also has a Real-time G-meter screen that's always present on top of the Dyno screen

This screen is completely absent on the Subaru BRZ 2017 instead, and I guess on the US models of yours is missing too..

I've just uploaded a video so you can see how it is on the GT86

[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0kp_qwfnoo"]GT86 G-Meter[/ame]

Do you think we can do something to get this working on the Subaru too?

zc06_kisstherain 01-06-2017 11:16 AM

wow Subaru~!!! what's point of that screen then...lol

Ganthrithor 01-07-2017 02:31 PM

The real question is: why put a G-meter in a car specifically marketed as not-grippy?

v0v

tomm.brz 01-07-2017 03:01 PM

Too late for that kind of question. We have it right now, and we want it to work :)

gtengr 01-07-2017 03:14 PM

I'm optimistic that someone will figure out how to unlock it for use while in motion.

tomm.brz 01-07-2017 05:10 PM

I'm not. Btw are Subaru dealers in other countries as terrible as they are in Italy?

So does Jered. Although apparently his big cell mate prefers "tuna sub" spelled backward on Jered's face.

Now only if we can figure out how to turn on that realtime monitor...

Yeah it's so dumb, all the figures on ours will just show 0.0 and a squiggle. Totally useless :( DUMB DUMB DUMB!

TheRatsWon 01-08-2017 09:01 AM

Techstream has no option for customizing the multi-information display(G-meter) that I have found. Hope someone can figure a hack or workaround for displaying it while moving. Or Subaru decides we are worthy in a future software update.

tomm.brz 01-08-2017 01:15 PM

You all should ask your dealers about it ... i'll try too next week

MWD 01-09-2017 08:24 AM

So this video shows the 86, does theirs work out of the box? I mean, we can reset our graph on the BRZ but can only see the new g's 'squiggle' after a run..

tomm.brz 01-09-2017 02:51 PM

yes, you' re correct

zc06_kisstherain 01-09-2017 06:37 PM

haha...i am happy for 2017 owners that wont work...who knows..there might be $xxxx amount to hack by 3rd party companies. lol

WWFT86 01-09-2017 07:39 PM

Tried it again today. It's actually running realtime and I get realtime monitor while parked. The moment I started moving it changes to the hp/torque graph but I bet it's running in the background... just that that screen is overlayed.
