Only compared to A-mod. Some good breaks for some and not so good breaks for others compared to eachother. Average drop is -.012 So if it dropped less than that, you got hurt. If more than that, you got help. Some make no sense at all. Like usual.

I guess I meant more for the classes the Toyobarus run in. haha But if you're going by the average, which I didn't really think of, CS/DS are just below that. STX made out pretty well with -.014.

I went ahead and broke it all down in excel

Hm... what am I looking at here?

So assuming a 50 sec raw time course, the PAX time delta between CS and DS has dropped slightly. It went from 0.40 sec to 0.35 sec. Is this going to be enough time to warrant pulling my TRD springs and rear bar and going back to DS? Of course staying in CS I could add the wider wheels available for the 2017 twins and get slightly more tire on the ground. Any thoughts on this?

I don't think you can backdate parts like that.

I think you'd end up sticking with a 225 tire, it wouldn't be a world of difference in terms of traction, it'd just fit better on the 7.5 giving you better feedback.

Shark_Bait88 11-18-2016 02:37 PM

What @strat61caster said. The wider wheel options will only be for 2017+

So the "ideal" FR-S/86 for CS is a TRD equipped '17+, but also like he said I don't think it'll be that great of a difference.

MarkG 11-18-2016 02:51 PM

Good catch on the wheels, I wasn't sure. It will be interesting to see what direction people go with pre 2017 cars. I really like mine with the trd springs and swaybars with koni's. I haven't driven one with just koni's, one swaybar change and tires as it would be in DS.

Shark_Bait88 11-18-2016 03:34 PM

I was planning to go from my current light STX prep, just coilovers with wrong wheels/tires, to a TRD CS prep as a way to save some money. But given 2017 PAX, I think I'm just gonna sell some parts and get the right wheels/tires to stay in a better indexed class. haha

AndrewMcG 11-18-2016 06:06 PM

Mark, my opinion is the car will be more competitive in DS than in CS. My cutoff difference was .004. If it was .004 difference or less between DS and CS, then I'd take my chances with the TRD package. With more difference, I don't think it can be made up. And the new numbers show a .007 difference. I think the car will be better off in DS without TRD parts than CS with TRD parts.

This is PAX index for SCCA autocross. It basically is an equation that puts drivers on an equal playing field by taking the potential for each class and comparing it to eachother as to how much faster/slower one class is than another. For example, STR is .830 and DS is .801 If somebody in STR runs a 50.000 and the person in D Street runs a 51.5 you can see who the better driver was. 50 x .830 = 41.5 seconds. Then take the 51.5 x .801 and that equals 41.25 seconds showing that even though the driver in a DS car was 1.5 seconds slower than the STR car, he beat him by .250 of a second.

Do we have official information that the non-TRD and BRZ 2017 are in CS?
The 2017 rules are not out yet, and when they published the change form CS to DS, they only mentionned 2013-2016. Which suggest 2017 is CS, but I havent seen anything official.
