Hm... what am I looking at here?

So assuming a 50 sec raw time course, the PAX time delta between CS and DS has dropped slightly. It went from 0.40 sec to 0.35 sec. Is this going to be enough time to warrant pulling my TRD springs and rear bar and going back to DS? Of course staying in CS I could add the wider wheels available for the 2017 twins and get slightly more tire on the ground. Any thoughts on this?

I think you'd end up sticking with a 225 tire, it wouldn't be a world of difference in terms of traction, it'd just fit better on the 7.5 giving you better feedback. |
What @strat61caster said. The wider wheel options will only be for 2017+
So the "ideal" FR-S/86 for CS is a TRD equipped '17+, but also like he said I don't think it'll be that great of a difference. |
Good catch on the wheels, I wasn't sure. It will be interesting to see what direction people go with pre 2017 cars. I really like mine with the trd springs and swaybars with koni's. I haven't driven one with just koni's, one swaybar change and tires as it would be in DS.

I was planning to go from my current light STX prep, just coilovers with wrong wheels/tires, to a TRD CS prep as a way to save some money. But given 2017 PAX, I think I'm just gonna sell some parts and get the right wheels/tires to stay in a better indexed class. haha

Mark, my opinion is the car will be more competitive in DS than in CS. My cutoff difference was .004. If it was .004 difference or less between DS and CS, then I'd take my chances with the TRD package. With more difference, I don't think it can be made up. And the new numbers show a .007 difference. I think the car will be better off in DS without TRD parts than CS with TRD parts.

Do we have official information that the non-TRD and BRZ 2017 are in CS?
The 2017 rules are not out yet, and when they published the change form CS to DS, they only mentionned 2013-2016. Which suggest 2017 is CS, but I havent seen anything official. |
