hahaha they have a new 15 that's been a "parts show car" they want 43k for at the dealer. Still hasn't sold.... I wonder why (actually I don't, its red and not on team lava that's why, oh and way over priced)

Depending on what's on the car, that may not be entirely ridiculous. If it has decent coils, wheels, engine mods, tune, fi, etc. Then it may be a decent deal? That's, what, 17k over msrp? If it's got 17k of mods on it, and the right buyer sees it, then it's not a terrible deal.

Or they could use it as a bargaining tool and get a great deal on the extras. Mine had $6K worth of extras that I paid $1K for. They were all things I would have done exactly the same anyway so it was a hell of a bargain for what I paid.

It's just wheels, tail lights, coils, and a catback. It also looks like ass imo. Next time I am there I will get some pics if its still there. There is no way it has 17k worth of mods otherwise yeah it could be a good deal to someone.

Been waiting for the special edition announcement from Toyota. Wish this was coming to the states though.

I would say the odds are pretty good that it will come here as a special edition for 2017. I'm pretty sure Toyota doesn't want to get left out of the performance package completely for the first, so this will stand in as a release series.

Although nice (at least in that pic) I love the variation that the Lava can have depending on light conditions. Like having a car that is 10 or so different colours.

When I first say my car on the lot,it initially looked copper instead of orange. I'm also willing to bet that the pic shown doesn't totally represent what the color will look like in person.

Agreed. Under the lights in the showroom mine looked more golden than orange. It is almost impossible to tell what an actual colour is from a picture on a computer monitor. Looking at that one though it doesn't appear to have pearl so it will be one colour no matter what the lighting. Much like the red ones now.

Why laugh? We've had special editions for 2013 (Series10), 2014 (monogram), 2015 (RS1.0), and 2016 (RS2.0). It looks to be the factory orange for the Crosstrek, so the assembly line is already set up to build it. The monogram was a way to offer the BRZ Limited package on the FR-S. This would offer the BRZ performance package on the 86.

Those were my thoughts too. I'm assuming some kind of special edition will be made available, whether its a 2017 or 2018 model and whether it comes with the performance pack or has the "Limited" features from the BRZ are what I'm wondering.

Not a put down and I am well aware of what special editions we have had (although I would argue the Monogram was a trim level not a special edition).

I laughed because ichi posted this over in random early yesterday and my very first thought and comment was "I wonder how long before the rumour starts that this is the next special edition". I even said something close to what you did. We are just standing by for motoring.au to state that an unnamed source has announced that this is the 2017 Special Edition for the US. It may very well be but at this point there is nothing to indicate that it isn't yet another Japan only version to add to the long list of ones they already have. Time will tell and there is no doubt they will eventually offer the PP on the 86 but that will probably (see I speculate as well) be across the board for all colours not restricted to one special one.
