Whiteout - Taillaights Red thoughts (photo inside)
So i was thinking about doing the tails on my whiteout with a red overlay. Did this really fast, and was gonna get everyone's thoughts on if it looks good with the red. I had only seen some darker colors do it. I'm kinda feeling this though. :party0030:

Looks way better. The tails kill the whole car IMO.

I can't stand the tails with the whiteout, it makes me sad :(
|
How are people going to know that you're in reverse?

I like the look of the red tails but i think the section on the inside corner of the light need to remain clear to maintain an OEM look, otherwise its too much red. There is a company that makes these tails in Japan that a vendor posted up on the forums somewhere but I cant find the thread!

Looks great where can i buy some?

I don't know why manufacturers don't just make tail lights red from the factory any more. Crappy looking chrome lights are easy to find.

Look at DP i love red tails

Was this the stuff you got, and how big of a sheet did you need to cover both tails? |

Nope - They are painted on the exterior since the tail lights are fused shut.
|
So are the headlights, but that hasn't stopped people from taking theirs apart and painting them. You wouldn't be able to duplicate the above without taking them apart. If you tried to mask off the turn signal area they'd come out looking like $#!t.
|
No, the headlights are not fused together. The tails are pretty much welded together. The heads are glued together (with silicone I think). That glue becomes soft when baked at a high enough temperature. The clear lens pops right off after.
And what do you you can't achieve the same results by masking? Is masking not what they use on very fine paint jobs? What makes this different from any other paint? |

You can't, otherwise no one will know where the reverse lights are.
