Iphone music wont play

I tried searching, but can't find my specific issue. Drive a 15' with the base headunit. My iphone 6 plays bluetooth just fine. BUT I like sound fidelity better with a hard wire. The problem is that when I select "ipod" instead of bluetooth, it will show the song and the screen will continue like it is actually playing, but NO sound is played. I tried turning up volume on phone, but I'm stumped.

Are you using the OEM usb connector?

Have you tried to power off and restart your iphone recently?

Have you tried to disable bluetooth and then connect the phone via usb and see if it will play the audio?

Is the volume turned up on the headunit?

I have something similar to your problem. so I notice when I have my aux cord plugged in my phone and everything is playing smoothly. As soon as I plug in my car charger then the music stops playing even though on my Spotify app the song is still playing.

So now when I want to charge my phone I would have to have the music app closed first, plug in the charger and then reopen the app and I hit play and THEN I plug my aux cord in and bam! Plays fine.

But no matter what...if the aux cord is plugged in before I plug my car charger in then it won't play. The sound would literally cut off as soon as the charger is plugged into the phone.

Ok I went back and messed around a little. Restarted my phone, which I do daily anyway, and yes using stock USB. It seems like when I start in bluetooth and switch to ipod, it wont play ipod. BUT if I start in ipod it works.

When I tried unplugging the phone (when it wouldn't play ipod), and started in ipod, it played again. Best guess is a software glitch either with the iphone, or the headunit, but being an FRS, I'm blaming the headunit ;)

Can't imagine the brz headunit is any better. My car is a '13 brz and I have issues with it. I'd say it's one of my least favorite parts of the car.

On the phone tho if you swipe up to open control panel* there is a spot to select playback device. The icon should look like a little screen with an arrow. Tap on that and you should be able to choose between Bluetooth and aux.

*The icon will only show up when you have multiple devices to choose from, so if you read this and swipe up with out having like headphones plugged in or blue toothed to a speaker you won't see it.

Been problem since launch with Iphones. More stable with Android.

I got sick of this and the freezing, so I just added all my music into a flahdrive and plug it in.
