Swapping for clear side markers
This tutorial will allow you to swap your stock amber side markers for clear side markers. You can also use this tutorial to change your side marker bulbs if they ever burn out.
Warning: You may end up bending your stock amber clips after performing this tutorial, but you should be able to bend them back. I have not tried putting the stock amber side markers back on to see if they will fit tightly. What you'll need: JDM clear side markers Sylvania 194NA amber bulbs Phillips screw driver flat head screw driver 1. Turn your steering wheel all the way to the right if you're changing your left side marker. Turn your steering wheel all the way to the left if you're changing your right side marker. 2. Remove the 4 clips holding the wheel well liner with a phillips head screw driver. http://i.imgur.com/MaY8F.jpg 3. After you remove the liner, wrap the tip of your flat head screw driver with some tape. You'll want to do this to minimize marring up the inside of the fender. 4. Take the flat head screw driver and stick it in the hole circled in red. Push forward then inwards towards the car. This is the hardest step and will take some patience. You may need to use a little force to pry the metal clip out of the hole. http://i.imgur.com/SR55Q.jpg 5. Once you have the amber side marker removed, twist off the stock bulbs and replace them with amber bulbs if you're going to replace your amber side marker with clear ones. 6. Once you have the bulbs locked in place, all you have to do is push the side marker back into position. 7. Repeat your steps for the other side marker. Finished: http://i.imgur.com/Ae9tp.jpg |
Thanks for the write up. Although 3 days too late for me haha. Do you think I could use an amber led bulb instead without any problems?

Thanks for this! I've got my clear side markers coming in the mail and was looking for a write up like this for the past couple days (thought I was going to have to write it up myself!) I wasn't sure about the bulbs, but now it looks like I'll be ordering some chromed amber bulbs for these as well, since I already have the chrome bulbs for the front and rear turn signals. Don't want any yellow showing when the lights aren't on.

Going to order these soon! Is the bulb under the markers amber colored? I'd hate to take all the time on this delicate part only to have to take it off again to change the bulbs to chrome.

the stock bulbs are white, but the side markers are amber. if you swap in the clear side markers, then you'll want to replace the stock white bulbs with some amber #194 amber bulbs. |
