i have 4300k slim ballast HIDs from HIDoutlet installed on my car... love it... takes 10 seconds for my lights to get to full brightness tho...

Anyone investigated bulb color temp changes on the BRZ?
|
ddmtuning.com has pretty good prices...so far no problems with the HID kits themselves however if you get the external wiring harness the relays and fuses are pretty crappy, easily correctable tho

I'm found couple place said German quality at around $80 which look better than other cheap stuffs from china, but not sure for what is real. If anyone has used these products before please inform.
Ballast 35w vs 55w. Does 55w has better output light intensity than 35w? 4300k vs 5000k vs 6000k which is best white looking for the 86? Thanks http://www.xenonheadlights.net/ http://www.hidkitxenonlights.com/ http://www.carhidkits.com/digital-hi...lasts-209.html |

most HID kits uder $100 are all made in china and the same factory. all those kits are just re-stamped and claims to have "better quality" than others. but they are all the same 55w is brighter than 35. but it will be an overkill for the non HID projector the FRS has just do 35w. 5000 - 6000k will be the safest color. |

so what you said is these $80 has no differences compare to typical xentec $35 buck? |

It is not true necessary true that all HID kits under $100 are bad or inferior in quality.
HID kits sold at cheap prices may likely have DC powered ballast which would mean a delay and possibly flickering on initial startup. German made ballasts such as Philips and Bosch have the best start-up times and zero flickering. We have an HID kit, called EuroConcepts, that is made by the same manufacturer that Philips Germany uses. We have C-Star HID kit (digital AC ballasts) and Smarteye (slim digital AC ballasts from Korea) as well. Problem with inexpensive HID kits that use DC powered ballasts is that it is an very old ballast design/technology wherein the circuit is unstable and causes the HID bulbs to fail prematurely because the current is only flowing one way. Cheaper HID kits also use HID bulbs that contain and emit UV. The UV will create fogging/oxidation on the projector lens/headlamp reflector housing over time. For this reason, we carry CN HID light bulbs and Philips Germany HID bulbs for those who are looking for a high quality kit and care about preserving their headlamps. It really depends on the customer's personal preference and expectations. At the end of the day, there are quality differences when you see different prices. Although some HID sellers may mark up the price thinking that would create a connotation/assumption that it is better quality, be cautious and ask what product you are getting. To some extend, it is true that "you get what you pay for" but have been careful and not judge purely based on its price. Feel welcome to contact us if you have any questions about our HID kit product offerings. Hope this is helpful to you all and answers some of your questions guys! Kind regards, HID_Powerhouse |
I recently installed the 55w from www.hidextra.com but doesnt work -_____- lights turned on fine at first and one or the other or both turns off. Makes this "buzz" noise and turns off... is this is sign of not gettin enough power from the car? HIDextra sent me the relay harness and told me to try it.

Hi EPIKsung,
I would suggest that you swap the HID bulbs left and right to see if you can replicate the same problem. It may be a possible problem with either the bulb or ballast. It is also useful to check the connectors to make sure everything is tight. The buzzing and shutoff of the HIDs sounds like something is defective, either the ballasts or bulbs. The HID may fire up initially and die down due to failure of the ballasts or bulbs (a possibility). For the FR-S, it does not require a relay harness because the H11 factory power should provide full 12V to fire up the HIDs, yet I have a 35w in my FR-S so I cannot speak for the feasibility of a 55w HID kit. The purpose of the relay harness is to obtain full 12V power from the car's battery to power the headlights, but is really unnecessary given our experience in installing HIDs for low beam headlights. Hope you can get it resolved soon. Definitely check in with the seller and have them advise you about the situation you are having. Best of luck =) |

Dang that cheap!!! I'll be interested to hear if they last. So many horror stories in the past of melted harnesses from cheap kits, but one can assume technology has gotten better/cheaper I guess!

so you currently have them installed in your fr-s? I just wanna make sure since the other cheap 55w kit didnt work on my fr-s |
My GT86 emblem and HID kit has arrived and it took me about more than 1 hr to install the HID kit. This kit has beautiful slim ballasts with nice quality metal design. These are 35watt & 6000k bulbs cost around $90 shipped. The stock light projector and the 6000k pure white color light produce good white light beam. To me, it look way better than any stock car w/ 4300k hid bulbs. I'm glad I picked the 6000k over the 5000k & 4300k bulbs. The cutoff level is low at about the car hood.
