Best head unit under 500
 

In your opinion, what's the best under 500 dollar double din head unit for quality of sound. Also, is there a way to make the USB port and aux work with the unit ?

There's a few threads, but if you are going after market there's a $15 axxess piece that has USB and aux and replaces the oem ports exactly. Under 500. Check in used for best bang to buck ratio. It won't have the absolute newest stuff, but for the money it's typically best for cost effectiveness.
Something like a 5600bhs is only 1 model line behind, and usually can be found at a nice discount.

Funny story. My buddy was messing with my headunit when I told him it's an android you can do everything and android does. 30 seconds later he was laughing his ass off cuz he could watch porn while I was driving. He is nolonger allowed to touch it hahaha.

Sorry to bring this thread back up, but I'm currently shopping for one. Are pioneer nex4200 good ? I'd love a volume knob but if I can't find a good one with one then I don't mind the crappy button.
I'm mainly concerned with sound quality and google maps over everything else

Its FREAKING AWFUL! It loops like 20 songs only, shows only the first 255 songs and the rest has to be divided into different files. It doesn't have a micro sd slot (not a big deal but would be nice) And it doesn't have sat nav... it's so freaking useless!! And the sound quality isn't that great. I have the bongovi acoustics module and it sounds meh. My buddy with a 2015 has a stock hu and that sounds better.

the manual states it only reads 255 files in each folder. the random play "bug" is annoying, you need to cycle through the random play option (turn off then back on) then click next song. It will then reshuffle from a different song. It seems to have 3 or 4 groups (on my system anyways) where it will play the same songs in order despite it being supposedly random. I now know which songs trigger this and if they come up on the first "random" play I just cycle the random play and click next song. Only work around I've found.
