2017 Locking Car

I got a new '17 last week, and I have a question about locking the door. If you hit the lock button on the remote once, the lights flash and there is a quick beep. But if you press it twice quickly, it flashes twice and the horn sounds for a sec. I've looked around, but haven't been able to figure out what the difference is.

I assume you're referring to the function explained on Page 40 of your Owner's Manual. I would encourage you to read the rest of the manual too in order to understand all of the hidden functions and quirks of your new vehicle :)

For example, be sure to read Page 47 before it happens to you.

After I discovered this feature, I ALWAYs press the lock button 3 times to activate the horn for some reason. Unfortunately it has become a habit lol

I have the same habit and do the same thing, except when I'm parked in a safe area like my work garage. Then I usually just touch the door for it to lock.

During nightime, one press of the lock button locks the doors, but your headlights will stay on (if stalk is in auto), they will turn off after however much time is set through techstream. With a second press of the lock button, the lights will turn off instantly.

I like how the BRZ owner's manual depicts an FR-S.

Same here. I only make the horn honk if I forgot to lock the door and I'm locking the car with it out of sight. The horn lets me know I was in range.

I did not know that! I have to try that now! I've always locked the door by touching the handle. I don't like taking out my keys out of my pocket for fear of losing them... and I'm also a lazy ass.

On a different note, now that all the lights on the 2017+ BRZ are LED, I'd like them (or at least the taillights and the boomerangs) to turn on when you UNLOCK the car. That would be a really nice touch.
