frs color regret :(
okay so i got my 'raven' frs 10 days ago i love my car overall.rwd lightweight is fun but everytime i see the whiteout frs i so wish i had that color.when i got my raven there was a hot lava available which i didnt liked so i end up getting the raven.i mean raven is very nice when clean and wax but after 2 days it shows the dirt very fast.i know is very stupid of me regret getting raven color or any i know but i come from a previous black car which makes me feel at times like i have the same car obviously is not the same.anyways just wondering if someone feels the same way i do .....:bonk:
|
having close friends with black cars, and seeing how fast the dirt shows on them, I chose to get asphalt.. It's still a dark colour, shows the shape of the car very well and hides the dirt..
but for you.. this just means you have to take care of your car more often, which is not necessarily a bad thing |
What you could do is spend a little more money and give your car an amazing amount of detailing with a good wash then claybar then the opti-guard. Then you can add a clear bra.
This will all keep your car clean and looking good for a while. You'll get used to having a black car. |

After owning a few black cars I vowed to never again do so. Small scratches show up in virtually any light and the moment you drive it after a detail it looks dirty again.
Lighter colors are much easier to hide the small imperfections - my old WRX's silver paint hid EVERYTHING. |
I regret not being able to afford a second one with AT so I could have a matching pair.
|
Whiteout doesn't show dirtiness as much as Raven. But it also doesn't show shininess as much as Raven. So, there are good and bad. Why care about bad when you can show off its good?
|
actually im already used to black cars again i love my raven but whiteout makes me sad everytime i see it lol

Sure it sucks to keep clean, but Raven can look fierce with a few mods. Plus it matches the interior so well. Also, maybe try and sprinkle some periods into your posts. :slap: |
Don't regret it Sall! It won't do you any good.
Just what others have mentioned, just take extra care. You probably know the drill on care maintenance since you already had a black car before. Raven is a beautiful color! It will always have that aggressiveness to it. That color will never go out of style! Classic! :) |

Agreed... My silver ute looked brand new for the 4yrs i owned it... Washed and waxed every 3wks and i was sweet.... I was tempted to get black for the 86 but have always wanted white... Silver looks damn good too IMO...... But im happy i chose white... especially with the pearl finish..... No regrets, atleast u picked the right car =) U could have really messed up and got lava....... Lol....... |
Don't worry man youll like it soon! Just need to mod it!
Haha I have a whiteout with no garage so I share the same sympathy as you. I clean it then a few days later it gets dirty. |
The raven definitely hides the hoodline a lot better than the whiteout. (which personally, the hoodline doesnt look good where it is on this car)
|
Also one you go black you never go back! Haha

Anyway if you like another color better just get it wrapped in that color. Black is the perfect base for wrapping a car. |
VINYLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
Or plastidip. |
You can't go wrong with white.
|
I'll trade you my silver :)
Normally i don't mind the silver.. but i'm finding it makes the car look like every other car out there. Wish I would have gone with the Hot Lava that was also available. |

I think everyone has wanted a black car (on cars in the past etc but the up keep after owning one after the fact is a bitch - last car was black) shows all the minor scratches from washing it by hand! in the sun and black does look sexy, celebrity, classy and professional :P Do some high detail work or just cover her up. but black looks awesome man batmanish. |
My last car was black and the issue was, during summer, it's hot as hell, every time after washing it, it would get dirty really quick. Lastly every time I exit off
the high way and park, I can see a new scratch. Love the white and definitely worth the extra cost. |
lol This reminds me of how xxThrillxx felt at the meet we had in Torrance recently. He really wanted the Firestorm but he jumped on a Raven (I forgot exactly). It was driving him crazy the whole night.
|
You could always plastidip or vinyl wrap your car, if you really don't like the color. I know an R8 around this area that was just vinyled from black to white and it looks gooooood. Just may not get the same shine as the whiteout though.

I've had a lot of black cars, and detail many for customers. No color outside of some white pearls make a car look "expensive and classy" like black. When clean, it's captivating. Keeping it clean, is tough. It'll show flaws the easiest, like swirls, so it's very-very important to know how to wash the car right, and putting a good product on to keep it protected. If you wash a lot, and drive a lot. Or live in adverse climates, or near industrial parks, product is key as much as the process to clean it, and a sealant is much better of a choice. I'd give Wolfgang 3.0 a shot, some of the best I've used to date. Pick it up on autogeek.net and give it a shot.
Black is the biggest pain, but when it's clean and done right, it's 2nd to none. |
Wrap it

I was in for an Ashphalt but I took a Raven b/c I was going to wrap it anyway and black is the best base for wraping and great for resale as well especially with the black interior.
Sorry about the image quality. Its 3M Dark matte grey |

That matte will look awesome but not until its got some aftermarket rims IMO.......... |

I've had two black cars so far. I wouldn't worry too much about it. If it's primarily dust that you're getting, use a "california duster" type of product instead of washing, but don't make the mistake of using pressure. The duster will pick up the dirt on its own.
However, if it's bugs, moist road grime, etc. I feel your pain. While I love my Firestorm FR-S, I like how the Raven looks too. I have two little boys that love putting fingerprints on cars regularly. If it was just me and my wife, I'd have a Raven FR-S. |

Raven is a sweet color. The red interior POPS against the black shell. The car looks straight mean. The highest up at Toyota USA is driving a 5 axis Raven FRS and it's siiick. I had some regrets about not going with white too. But I had a white sporty car for 5 years and wanted to make a different statement. With a black car you can do allot of special looks with it, like murdering it out.
Once you have your car for awhile and take it to car shows and FRS meets I think you will be pleasantly surprised that Raven is a pretty rare color. The more I drive the car and receive looks and praise the happier I am with my color choice. And for the record, after Firestorm it was a toss up between white and black. :) |
I bought the vinyl off ebay for $480, prep and supplies cost about $150 more. 40-50hrs of install time with a helper for about half of it.
I was quoted $4K for the job at a pro installer who gave me some tips to do it myself. When I showed him he said his work would have only been slighly but probably not noticeably better. If you have the time, try it yourself. Luke |
