USB play

Hello, is there a way to make the usb device play automatically upon starting up the car? I always need to select the source to USB before it would start playing. Bluetooth works automatically. Is something broken or this is normal? I have this touchscreen:

I should have been more specific. I'm actually playing my music off of my iPhone not from a USB stick so maybe it doesn't play nice with the cell phone.

iphone prob wont immediately configure itself as a mtp device. I know even on android this is a thing, depending on brand/rom you are running. I keep mine on mtp default, but I think iphone starts in an installer mode to determine trust.

I should add, I am not by any means an iphone aficionado, I have one because of work, but I hate it, and use it as little as possible.

Does the USB jack actually do anything? I tried to use it to charge when I first got it but it sucks, so I figured it was just for show... Is it for files/music? Lol.

It keeps the charge up on my phone let's say when I'm using Google Maps as a GPS.

At the end of my trip the charge would be around 95% rather than 85%

Nice, mine sucks the battery out of mine, even if it's on airplane mode... Took it to a Subaru dealership, they said it was fine, lol

It may depend on the radio in the car. I have the Pioneer AHA unit from the 2014 model in my 2013. I have an iPod Classic plugged into the USB port and stored in the cubby.

It always goes back to where I left off (sort of) when I turn the car back on. I say sort of because I have noticed sometimes the iPod continues on a bit after I turn off the car. Also, occasionally the iPod will reset the playlist to the first song, which is a major pain for me because I have over 3,000 songs on it that I listen to in alphabetical order by song title (sort of like and organized random) and there is no easy way to get back to song 1,753 in the list once it resets.

I have also sometimes use it rather than bluetooth to listen to XM from my phone plugged in (Droid Maxx) and it picks the channel back up if I restart the car as well as charges it.
