Interior Lights

Cost me $50 bux in parts. Custom done. I can reproduce the mounting templates I made for those interested.

DIY write up please!

Are they powered the whole time or just when you open/unlock the door like the dome
Lights?

Powered all the time. Tapped the middle console lighter socket in parallel to power for my radar detector.

Made a 'Y' power cable up the console towards the front of the car, and then to the left near fuse box for one light mount off of fuse box bolt and one towards the right off of second bolt to the right under passenger glovebox closest to firewall.

Give me a moment and I'll post a template you can use to either trace on plastic (available in HDP sheets at Home Depot or Menards) which you would use to mount to these bolts and put a Light socket through (like I did with LEDs).

I'm interested in how you mounted these... I picked up a couple Automation LED panels and plan to hook them up to a 3-position switch (dome - off - on). I'm just not sure how I'll mount it.

Edit: too slow to post (damn work)

I'll post (hopefully later tonight with pix) where I mounted these custom brackets I made. Super easy locations and aimed LEDs perfectly!

For those of you who are too lazy to go buy arcylic sheets and fabricate your own brackets...

The front license plate holder (who needs that crap anyways?) makes a great bracket after 20 seconds with a jig saw and a drill.

Not a bad idea hacking the license plate bracket to mount it - I have one of those laying around, might give that a shot.

I'm currently looking at putting a clear piece of lexan in front of my LED panels, that way I can tint the lexan a different color if I don't want it to be white (thinking red to match the rest of the interior theme)

Subaru has OEM LED footwell illumination kits for the Impreza that come in red or blue. I was thinking about retrofitting them into my BRZ.

Swapped out White for RED LEDs:

That works too. The HDP sheets can be cut with a good heavy duty scissors and allows you to retain your plate holder (for those who need it like me in Illinois).

This means you remove the center console and splice in to the 12v accessory wiring. It's two wires and pretty simple to do. Quick splice connectors make short work of it.
