Ecutek questions

I'm using my cousins laptop to install the ecutek software and stuff I wanted to view the off the shelf tunes Visconti has but does the license I have bind to my cousins computer or my car? I'm purchasing a laptop soon I want to be able to use my laptop for my car and not do the license update and have it bind to my cousins laptop

The computer is not bound. Once you install tuner assist you'll be able to download the ots maps as well as a stock map.

Ecutek does not include any optimized tunes out of the box. Only stock roms. However, you can add the free race rom features to one of the stock roms and flash that if you just want launch control/flat shifting/auto blip, etc...
  1. Open the ProECU software
  2. Open your base ROM.
  3. Click the RaceROM tab in the main window
  4. Click the "Add RaceROM Features..." button
  5. Browse to the directory containing RaceROM patches. On my machine they're here C:\EcuTek\ProECURomFiles\Subaru\BRZ\RaceROM Feature Files\Version 9
  6. Choose the patch file that matches the stock ROM image you're editing.
  7. Once the RaceROM features are added you can open the new maps and enable the features you want
  8. Save the patched rom as a new file (don't overwrite the stock map)
  9. Flash the patched rom to your car.

Ecutek wont let you import roms that have additional patches like oft roms with their own lc\ffs patches.

if you bought an sbd kit the sbd guys should provide you with the base map for either ecutek or oft i believe.

Just be careful, you can only install the software on 3 computers max. Or at least that is the case according to the T&C for Australia

I don't think it'll stop you, it's just to prevent a dongle being shared around many systems. I doubt they have an issue if you uninstall etc. What happens if you have 3 laptops die? The dongle won't suddenly become useless ;)

But it's in the terms and conditions maaaaannnnn gotta do what it says!
I don't know how they would or could prevent it. Maybe not allow one instance to download updates, presumably the oldest version?

I got to installing on the 3rd computer before I read it haha

you need a licience for each ecu you want to tune\flash. once your ecu has licience you can flash it as often as you like. with as many different ecutek tunes from different tuners as you like or make up your own tunes

if you want to flash another car you will ned to buy another ecu licience, but you can use same ecutek cable.
