MXP SP Catback vs ARK GRIP Catback Exhausts - Which One?

Hi guys,

I am down to my last two choices for the CBE that I would love to get this Christmas. Basically the main thing is that I am curious if there is an actual advantage in paying the extra $300.00 for the ARK GRIP.

I am down with these two because based on a few hours of research I've found out that both of them have no drones and these produce the sound that I am looking for(I've searched and listened to all the catbacks listed on ft86speedfactory and 86speed). Also the burnt tips are beautiful.

It looks like the ARK GRIP might have clearance issues if the vehicle gets lowered, BUT it looks so nice lol.

To the owners or who owned these CBEs please let me know how you like yours and how long you've had it and any issues encountered.

This is my DD car and plan on tracking but not as often as others.

*Please note I also plan on getting JDL UEL Catted Headers in the future.*

Thank you in advance for your 2 cents.

:thanks:

No personal experience with the ARK, but I've had the MXP SP for about 18 months so far and I'm very happy with it.

Rest of the exhaust is stock, has a nice deep, mellow tone.

Only real disadvantage I can think of is that's actually a few lbs heaving than the stock cat back.

I have the MXP as well and it's a nice exhaust. plus, it uses the stock shape that the car was designed for. I have read that people have had problems with non-stock shaped mufflers, like the ARK, that trap pockets of air under the car causing the reverse light panel to flap around when driving at speed.

I see. Yeah I'm not really picky about the weight since it's not that much. I care more about the sound and overall reliability.

Hmm I've never heard of that issue before. Thanks for bringing it up, do you happen to remember the link where you read that information by any chance?

@zeal86 will make you want the ARK one (if I remember right that's the one he runs)

Been running with my ARK Grip for about 30k now with zero issues. Still have that deep growl like when I got it. For some reason both tips are slightly off center since the initial installation.. Since there's no rubbing it doesn't bother me.

How's the burnt tip looking now for you? I heard they fade over time.

Mine's a daily beater and the tips are dirty so I can't really tell.
