When do most of you do your winter change out?

This is the first car I've owned that had a lot of trouble in the snow.

When is it too late to change the rubber out? What months do most of you run them?

Thanks

When the average temperature is at or around 40, is when I change. Likely late November.

If it gets below freezing at night before that, and your car is parked outside - thats a good time to change.

when in doubt, change the tires first thing November. Tire shops are crazy busy as soon as the shit comes down.

I'm planning to do mine Mid November prolly the week of the 20th ish, I better look into ordering tires.

I've got brand new WS80's on the stock rims (205/50 though), but I don't use a calendar or impending weather as my basis to change over.

I use my spousometer (you can pick one up at any 'She's Got a Nice Ass = I Do' store - they have outlets in every kuntry).

In other words, I change 'em over when my wife tells me I'd 'better effing do it.

When there's the first significant forecast of snow until there doesn't seem like there will be any more snow

why? 10-16-2016 06:04 PM

it depends. If you have the tools and the space to do it yourself wait until it gets cold enough. If not, a couple weeks before winter officially starts in your area.

I run Blizzaks in the winter. I don't switch to them until the daily temperature hits below 45F. I read that they wear too quickly if driven above that.

When my summer tires start to slip on dry road. Slight jokes aside, I'd change when temperatures drop below 45.

I changed my tires last week and will get around to putting the stock exhaust back on soon enough... I still rarely drive this car in winter and almost never in snow because it's just terrible even with good snow tires.

Put them on when it starts snowing; usually get them off by 4th of july.

i heart ricers 10-26-2016 03:58 PM

2-3ft of snow usually

I think I did mine the week of Thanksgiving last year.

Gotarheels03 02-23-2017 02:10 PM

Winters go on in late November, around Thanksgiving. Winters come off generally the 1st week in April. We get snow often enough here in DE at the tail end of March.
