I didn’t hesitate to take on the job and I was extremely stoked to work on this amazing machine. When the car was delivered to me, it already looked very shiny and only minimal swirls were visible and the car was already in great shape to begin with. The car only had 6,400 miles. I thought to myself that this will be an easy one but boy I was wrong. In addition, the mediocre beading I was getting before the wash was completely killed after washing the car. After drying the car, I was greeted with the true condition of the paint. It was definitely worse than I originally saw but it still wasn’t bad. Here’s a picture of the clay after doing half of the hood: https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-m...-%2520Clay.JPG As you can see, there wasn’t much bonded contaminants on the car. I was thrilled about this because claying didn’t really take long. After claying the car, I immediately got into polishing. I started out with Meguiar’s D300 using 5” and 3” MF correcting pads. Here are some pictures through the entire process: https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-g...%2520Taped.JPG All taped up and ready to go https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-T...Door%2520D.JPG Before: Driver’s side door https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-S...Door%2520D.JPG 50/50: Driver’s side door https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-1...Door%2520D.JPG 50/50: Driver’s side door https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-a...Door%2520D.JPG After: Driver’s side door https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-a...nder%2520D.JPG 50/50: Driver’s side rear fender https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-x...nder%2520D.JPG After: Driver’s side rear fender https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-L...2520Pillar.JPG Before: Driver’s side pillar https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-S...2520Pillar.JPG 50/50: Driver’s side pillar https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-O...2520Pillar.JPG After: Driver’s side pillar https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-m...nder%2520D.JPG Before: Driver’s side front fender https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-A...nder%2520D.JPG After: Driver’s side front fender https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-y...e%2520Hood.JPG Before: Hood https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-s...f%2520Hood.JPG 50/50: Hood https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-L...e%2520Hood.JPG After: Hood https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-U...nder%2520P.JPG Before: Passenger side front fender https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-7...nder%2520P.JPG 50/50: Passenger side front fender https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-R...nder%2520P.JPG After: Passenger side front fender https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-E...2520Bumper.JPG Before: Rear Bumper https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-V...2520Bumper.JPG After: Rear Bumper Using the D300 created a very slight haze on the paint. This was more evident on the roof - I don’t know why. In order to create the perfect finish, I knew I had to follow it up with a finishing polish. The weapon of choice: Meguiar’s M205. I love this stuff. Here are some pictures after I treated the car with M205: https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-x...2520Polish.JPG https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-N...2520Polish.JPG https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-m...2520Polish.JPG https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Y...2520Polish.JPG https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-Q...2520Polish.JPG |
Wow! That looks amazing but 18 hrs - how much did you get paid for that job?

J/K What's up man! Things still going good with that one thing we were talking about? ;) Nice detail Marc, those afters are gorgeous! |
Awesome job, man I gotta get some of that wax for my SUV that stuff is killer on black I can't believe those reflections! All in all awesome job getting the swirls out those were pretty crappy... This guy needs to stop going to crap car washes and keep it washed by you and only you.
Did you dress the weather stripping? maybe it was just the sun in the picture but it looks faded. I like to use http://www.chemicalguys.com/Tire_Shi...tvd_107_16.htm . 2 light coats of it on everything. I like that stuff because its not super shiny, more of a natural black and dry to touch not oily. |
