86 parts compatibility
Does anyone know the compatibility of exhaust/intake parts between the current era FRS/BRZ and the 2017 86. I just picked up an 86 and I'm curious.
Thanks! |
As far as I know everything should bolt up the same but i could be wrong.

I'm interested in that gauge cluster with all the power curve and temperatures etc.
I wonder if you can swap that Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I think I heard there are slight changes in the exhaust manifold. I would think everything behind the cats is the same though. Quote:
I'm pretty sure @Zaku already has looked into this and determined that it would not be an easy job. |
Intake box, filter, tube, and manifold have been revised. Exhaust manifold also revised. I would assume you could swap the intake system and exhaust manifold between the two, but someone needs to test it to confirm.

I read somewhere the flange on the header to the overpipe is slightly different. Intake and exhaust manifolds are definitely revised.

Going from the MY17 BRZ document that was posted up here somewhere, the engine changes are:
Increased cylinder block rigidity Greater piston durability Changed valve stem finish Improved roughness of camshaft journals Optimized fuel pump drive cam Optimized internal shape of rocker arm pivots Changed shape of fuel system components Changed fuel pressure sensor Upgraded to next-generation fuel pump Changed shape and material of intake manifold Optimized flow channels of air intake system Changed specifications of air cleaner element Changed shape of EPF (Exhaust Manifold) Changed material of EPC-R (Front Pipe) Changed material and shape of exhaust pipe system Changed specifications of cam angle sensor plate Changed ECU hardware Changed engine harness Changed material of oil spacer Changed specifications of alternator Installed new battery condition sensor Changed specifications of crank angle sensor Changed shape of crank angle sensor plate Changed diagnostic specifications of O2 sensor So no, not many changes. My interested to see the intake system and exhaust manifold changes, both will probably end up being cheap to buy from those that replace them and might see some benefit. Also would like to see what change in O2 sensor, have they gone for a true WBO2 like many others do these days, or just changed the logic in the ECU? |

Have any of the tune companies gotten their hands on the 2017 ecu? OF etc...

@Celica00 you act like you're new here :bonk:

blimey they did all that work and its only 5 bhp up......
|
Perhaps they are up 15hp but now actually make the hp they claim! Shame they didn't strengthen the rods
