Automatic Sound Levelizer Question
Hi Folks, I've had my new FR-S for a week now, and I notice that the DSP on my base Pioneer radio does not seem to be working. I've had vehicle with automatic sound levelizing before, and this one does not seem to boost the volume with increase in speed. I can live with it until the first oil change, but I think it should be more pronounced. My question is this: is there a definite difference in the volume of the radio when you increase the vehicle's speed? Or is it not that noticeable...there is the high, medium, low and off position. I can't really hear a difference. Is it a software update question, or does the head unit have to be replaced. Thanks in advance for you help!

I notice the difference when I listen for it, but I have an aftermarket exhaust that makes more noise. ( I *think it uses the blue tooth mic and responds to noise rather than vehicle speed)
It also seems to try and adjust without drawing attention away from the music. |
Read your manual. Info is in there.
My guess the level of the ASL is on the lower setting. |
Sadly, I am one of those guys that reads the manuals front to back. I did find the info on the DSP, and I do have it on the HIGH setting. I've also tried it on the LOW and MEDIUM settings. I've tried it on the OFF setting too - no difference. Do you think it's the head unit? Thanks for your help.

If it's working properly, your shouldn't notice it, it should just work seemlessly. I've heard cars where it was obvious when it increased the volume, and it drove me crazy to the point I would turn it off and just do it myself.
On the other hand, if you notice that at speed that the music seems to be getting drowned out, it may not be working properly. |
