Diode Dynamics XP80 DRL Issue

Hey forum dwellers,

Slight wall of text inbound.

I'm curious if anyone has had issues running Diode Dynamics XP80 LED DRL's. I had a pair in my 2016 FRS for a bout 6 months until they both burned out within about a week of each other. I got both of them exchanged and have been running the new pair for about a month. Yesterday, I found that yet again my left LED has stopped emitting. Swapped bulbs and the issue follows the bulb.

Upon inspection, the dysfunctional bulb has a very slight discoloration and definitely smells like it's over its temp range. I'm honestly a little perplexed as to why this might be happening. It appears that they're being overdriven but I can't be sure. I can upload some pics later today if anyone thinks it might help. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

PS - I'm not knocking DD products at all. I have a few other of their units and they perform flawlessly. Also, their customer service is second to none.

Sounds lik a bad batch.

I had a similar type of issue with multiple PWM dimmers of theirs. But I gave up on that project because they changed the way the product worked and it no longer worked for my needs. Meanwhile all my led strips are flawless.

Thats what I'm leaning towards. I'll get these RMA'd and switch to their XML2 set or maybe go with Morimoto.

Right?

I even wore gloves the second time and made absolutely sure I didn't come close to touching the glass shell. And they still died. Even faster. :iono:
