Trunk space?

Obviously not buying this for lugging stuff around, but it would be nice to be able to bring home groceries or put in a few bags for a long weekend trip. I am assuming that the trunk space would mimic the same amount of volume as a 370z or RX-8 at about ~7 cu ft? Or will that be significantly decreased due to the rear seating?

I've wondered about the same thing. Basically this thing is a Miata with rear seats squeezed in somehow. I think the only remedy for the probable lack of trunk space is to make it a liftback. You hear that TOYOTA!? LIFTBACK!

I would actually prefer a liftback. :)

Me too!

I would also hope the rear seat would fold down for storing any big long items etc..

NESW20 04-01-2011 08:11 PM

i'm not too worried about it. as long as it can fit a couple suitcases, it'll be enough.

Yeah it would be very convenient to be able to fold the rear seats down, however wouldn't that lessen the lateral rigidity of the rear a little? Unless of course they add a rear strut bar.

lol.... I don't think it would come up with a good space! but I'd go for hatch/lift back if they made one :D
I still remember how I felt happy when I put so many stuff on my ae86 trunk (cusco 7pt rollcage, greddy type-s coilovers, exhaust, trd itbs, links,,,ect) and my friends were like @_@ when they so those parts all inside my 86 (but I never installed the itbs thu as no tuner was free to tune it)

but yah, if they offer one, i'd take it over the coupe (one thing I really wish is also the flip up lights) but guess it won't happen :(

Flip up lights are so 80s. :barf:

oh come on, no love for flip-ups?

I think anyone that had a car with them has a little place in their heart for flip-ups. I know they add weight and complications, but it just feels so bad ass popping your lights up. (not asking for them in the FT)

Space for four mounted tires would be nice for obvious reasons.

they said with the rear seats folded down, you can fit 2 golf bags.

YE U HEARD IT!!! 2 BODIES!( height is limited)

2 golf bags.. ontop of each other lying down? Or 2 golf bags sitting up next to each other from the back of the backrow seat to the front 2?

Well I will have to admit when I was a kid I thought they were cool in the 80s and early 90s. However, now when I think about them I see some old car with one up and one down. Not to mention an added motor/servo to burn out and the added drag from the flip ups.
