Difficulty shifting to 2nd during AutoX

I was at an AutoX event today and had something come up that's never happened before. After going through the first gate, I tried shifting to 2nd and it just didn't want to go into gear. It's almost like it was locked out and took several attempts to finally get into gear. It happened 2 different times which obviously screwed up my times on those runs.

Anybody had this happen? I just changed the transmission fluid about a month ago with Motul Gear 300. I had the clutch all the way in, so I know that's not it. It almost seems like a syncro issue, but I really hope not. This just kind of came out of the blue and I'm pretty puzzled. :iono:

For what's it's worth I have the same fluid in the car and the same issue if the fluid is cold. After the car has been driving for a while and/or the fluid is warm it's fine. Usually the first couple 1st-2nd shifts when cold are exactly like that.

Yeah, I know about the cold shifting issues with Motul. But, it was in the mid 80's today and the transmission definitely wasn't cold. It happened on my 2nd and 7th runs today.

That's odd indeed. If it keeps happening maybe I would look at inspecting the clutch fork. At least a quick visual underneath of your shifter just in case something is binding.

Something else I noticed is that it only happened when I was close to redline in 1st gear. If I shifted immediately after going through the first gate while still in the mid RPM range, it didn't happen.

At redline, the split between first and second is pretty huge. You have to give it time to spool down. It's not a switch. I've missed both 1-2 and 2-3 redline shifts from trying to do it too fast.

I bet it's just a matter of adrenaline.
