ECUtek speed density tuning tool

gents

I'm in the process of switching over to using Speed Density as I've topped out the MAF with the current state if tune
1st impressions of using it is that its a lot easier to dial in the full load tuning than instead of using MAF scaling but the tricky part is handling the transition between MAF and MAP as I've plumped for the 'hybrid' setup where it uses the MAF below 2000rpm and below 1.0bar Abs MAP

Ecutek are in the process of producing a new version of proECU with 'actual & target' AFR log values which is proving very useful
but has anyone done a lookup tool to suit SD tuning ? as its all a bit manual at the moment
something along the lines of the mafscale one where it uses log data to tune the VE table ?

Matt,

Would this mean you could tweak our tunes for those of us with the Cosworth tunes? Would there be any benefits of speed density tuning over the current maps which come with our kits? Thanks!

Matt@Cosworth 09-18-2016 05:11 PM

hello

Well the current stage 2 kits have no issue with sticking with MAF as its not a restriction at that power level, so there's no advantage to switching over to SD
I've found that with the stage 2.5 and other mods I'm now clipping the MAF sensor limit

Thank you for the info! Looking forward to hearing more about it.

Guy used maf out of forester turbo has 30 percent greater range and plug and play compatable just another option

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=106496

or increase diameter of the intake pipe/tube maf sits in like the perrin big maf intake nas rescale maf to suit larger flow rates.

Im maxing the MAF sensor out, too. Im on a 2,75" MAF housing used from an injen CAI (old version). Looking into this thread.

this is true an a direction I was considering - however the mixture control when running SD is quite frankly excellent, I can see the need to run MAF for low throttle openings and low boost though as all the idle speed control, purge control and other small things are all tied into that function

so I'm going to persevere with a hybrid MAF / MAP setup to try and get the best of both worlds working, not only that I'm expecting the stock airbox to start causing a restriction soon

Mr Kodename47
where can I find a download of the VGI tool?
If thats what I want? plus I'm surprised with your expertise that this isn't something that you've tried already?

Yes true, opensource guy has written hybrid SD as well, just exploring other options for people on the maf limit.

even guys with ecutek wil need to purchase racerom extension to access ecutek SD features

VGI tool here
will need to be "adapted" for speed density calculations i believe

Running a Sprintex so can only used the OEM MAP sensor, I can't use SD.

This is a post by Andre at HPA on their forums:

"I'll also add that you can speed up the SD tuning process greatly by using MegaLogViewer to analyse your log files rather than trying to do this inside the EcuTek software. The reason is that you can set up a histogram of AFR error vs load and rpm where you can replicate the break points in your VE table. Drive the car smoothly and access as many zones as possible as many times as possible and you'll build up an error histogram that you can use to correct the VE table. Provided your air temp correction is on point and you aren't inducing transient enrichment you can dial in this table in 2-3 attempts. Beats pouring over long log files in my opinion."

That might help you?

@Matt@Cosworth
you could try using 've calc' tab 'afr tuner' option

some other people posted they've just used 'stats' tab for tuning

if you have a clean good idea on what you want it could be coded in as yet another tab

Matt@Cosworth 10-03-2016 04:31 PM

thank you for the replies

the main issue I have at the moment is as ECUtek have recoded the map access logs the current release of the mafscaling tool no longer works when reading in the log file
as it comes up with no identified channels in the log file

megalogviewer does look like it'll do whats required though so I'll see if my boss will stretch to paying for it.....

COO86L 10-03-2016 10:51 PM

Yeah I noticed they did that with their logs and now I can't upload to datazap etc. The logs I opened with megalogviewer and they appeared to work. I did a log the other day so I'll load it up and check if it works still for you.

EcuTek do strange things ;D
