2017 front bumper

Anyone else 100% hate that ugly front bumper on the toyota 86... like it's honestly a deal breaker if I had to purchase the 2016 vs the 2017 for same price I'd choose the 2016 any day of the week. Anyone else agree? I will admit the 2017 has better interior color tho. I wasn't a fan of red in the pervious years.

electrongeek 09-17-2016 01:28 AM

I agree it's hideous. I'm sure there will be many 2017 owners doing bumper swaps. I picked up a 2016 about 3 months go and I'm so glad I did.

Hideous is an understatement lol. The fang looking things are horrid. Looks like something you'd see on the orginal need for speed underground game lol.

ugly AF. why would they even change it?
everyone knows FRS front bumper gen 1 > BRZ front bumper

Fixed that for you.

Its a personal preference when it comes to looks. I personally don't like it, but do like the removal of the red stitching in the interior. Allows you to have more choices of accents without clashing.

If I were in the market for a twin now, I would just go for the BRZ. The 86 just fell off the radar for me.

JDM4E 09-17-2016 01:24 PM

Yes its is fugly as hell. BRZ 2017 front bumper is ugly too, but not so much like 86. pre-facelift BRZ front for me.

Anderzz 09-17-2016 07:57 PM

+1 absolutely hate it, and makes the BRZ the clearly better twin moving forward imo

shodan 09-18-2016 08:05 PM

I'd still begrudgingly go with the 2017 86 just cause I dont like how the BRZ has the 'smile' style radiator grill and mouth guard

DGM-BRZ 09-18-2016 10:22 PM

BRZ with FRS front bumper swap ftw.

ModBargains.com 09-19-2016 02:13 PM

Has anyone put together a side by side comparing the new one to older ones? would be interesting to see all the details and changes that happened

mclovin85 09-20-2016 01:55 PM

super ugly as shit lol... so glad i picked up my 2016 frs in january this year

Leonardo 09-20-2016 03:19 PM

Agreed. New FR-S bumper is not better than the older version.

But, I think the new BRZ bumper is better than the older BRZ bumper.

Series blue interior has my vote for best stock interior. I went full black leather. Hated the red stitch!

The 17 body style deserves my #totaled status, I hate it!

MrDinkleman 09-20-2016 04:08 PM

Given the same choice, 2016 vs. 2017, I would go with the 2016, not because of the front bumper but because of the steering wheel buttons. I am not all that fond of the 2016 or 2017 bumpers. They both have elements of those silly Shogun body kits of yesteryear...

i love the 2017 86 bumper, think it looks way more aggressive.

JDLAutoDesign 09-24-2016 01:51 AM

I think it will be funny to look back at this thread in time and see how much of an acquired taste it becomes...I know I'm guilty of it with most new cars

sw20kosh 12-12-2016 09:28 PM

It is already growing on me...................

mitch t 12-13-2016 02:15 PM

I sure hope everyone gets to liking the new front bumper, as I'm already making plates for it!
