My motor is knocking?

Hey everyone, so I've swapped a Cummings turbo diesel into my FRS. Just kidding.. Motor seems to be knocking. Used to be boosted but hasn't been for a long time 7psi of boost never any issues. Been stock for like 40k and only tracked a handful of times since.

Custom ecutek tune from Sasha at OnPoint, Berk single exit muffler delete, stock everything else except DW65c fuel pump and suspension mods.

Happened 3/4 throttle 4.5-5k rpm not ripping it.

No engine light, vids below.

First vid is with accessory belt on, second is with it off and a small rev of maybe 500 rpm.

Edit: as I always forget to post something this is it, as I was making it home (sounded like a crap clutch issue once again but it has no problem disengaging/engaging or shifting), I had to hammer the brakes on quick for some clown in front of my stopping for an invisible car, my car shut off so I started it back up. Power steering light came on and then shut off after a minute or so. I wiggled the steering wheel a bit to see if it was acting up and my skid light came on and stayed on. My traction buttons wouldn't work and car continued to knock.

What should I check before I pull it out?

Your bank account 'cause that don't sound cheap! I hope I'm wrong though but good luck! Let us know what you find.

My money is on a spun #4 bearing.
When you open it up I will also bet you find a channel blocked with silicone. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=107959

Blah I hope not but if it is then I think a swap of some sort will be happening.

sounds pretty terminal.

but if you have a big long screwdriver you can use it as a kind of stethoscope. Place the metal end on where on the engine you want to listen to and put your ear on the plastic handle end. Helps isolate noise down to an area.

Will work with screwdriver the other way round but not to good for your ear.

don't put it in the moving rotating bits or get your hair caught in those either

Thanks Steve :) I wonder how the hell I would spin a bearing at 3/4 throttle at the rpm I was at lol

It's too late. You didn't pull out soon enough.

SavingManuals 09-16-2016 11:45 PM

Hahaha, it's going to take me 18 years to pay for this one too :p

Pull out direct injectors to see if seals are gone? Engine knocks on load when DI seals fail. No CELs yet?

Edit: never mind, it sounds bad.. don't think it's seals. Probably something worse :/

SavingManuals 09-17-2016 12:15 AM

Il pull them out tomorrow, it's possible as it chirped like hell. No CEL's, but I mean if it turns out not to be di seals, they have to be stripped off of the motor anyways after I tear it out so it can't hurt.
